The 51st annual broadcast will be a jam-packed 8 hours of courageous stories, joyous celebrations, and live performances by acclaimed artists, including Dallas Smith, Dan Mangan, and The Washboard Union. Boat for Hope Every summer in Victoria, Vancouver and Kelowna, children with special needs and their families are treated to a day of pirate adventure on the high seas at Boat for Hope, a fundraiser in support of Variety - the Children’s Charity. In each city, community partners and local skippers ferry the kids around in their pirate-themed boats in search of loot, while marauding pirates bent on stealing the treasure give full chase, while on route to “Treasure Island.” For the hundreds of kids who participate every year, the day is a carefree opportunity to play games, have fun, and enjoy a barbeque in the park. Can Variety help your family? For over 50 years, Variety - the Children’s Charity has been directly helping families who have children with extra needs through our Individual Grant Program. If your child meets the following criteria, we may be able to help:
Eligibility •
Babies, children or youth from birth up to their 19th birthday
•
Residents of British Columbia or the Yukon who have a valid personal healthcare number (Care Card)
•
Medical or developmental diagnosis which is recognized by a designated professional
•
Financial circumstance that limits the ability of the family to afford required services or adaptive equipment
