Purpose to lower the violent/non violent drug –addicted woman offenders, juvenile offender in prison. . One of the biggest reason for the overcrowding is the large recidivism rate. Right now 7 out of 10 inmate come back to prison. Now itâ€&#x;s time to stop the revolving door. Rehabilitation is the way when it come to really helping offender to get to the society.
Thesis project
Rehabilitation centre for offenders
As per NCRBâ€&#x;s data Madhya Pradesh has the highest offenders in India(as per chosen category). In that Bhopal has the highest crime among MP state. In Bhopal, Central jail is now shifted to the outskirt of city . As per Smart Bhopal City Scheme , government are planning to use the old land by converting it to cultural centre. Jail Authority are giving new proposal to reuse the land. Tall spreading trees which provide shading to site. Normal black soil extensively moist and itâ€&#x;s fertility level is medium.
Rehabilitation of a inmate is a stage reached when a person after admission into prison undergoes specifically planned programmes that will help him or her to fit well into the society, be accepted by community and not to re enter prison after release.
Rehab program teach the skill which reduce the stress, heal the trauma and provide practical knowledge to deal with negative emotion and contribute to the society in a positive way. This program include vocational training base on their interested field.
According to the rate of crime by NCRB, woman criminal increase by 23%.. Juvenile criminal against woman were the highest according to the NCRB statistic 2013.
Lower potion of the site have 75% of plantation growth which kept untouched , no construction and also going to maintain it and increase the percentage. It can be a job facility for inmate also as one of training provided in rehab is nursery.

Process
The site is surrounded by government buildings, quarter and slum. The jail road contain heavy traffic and chaos. The land on the left side are mostly vacant or has some uneven plantation and most of the land belong to the forest department.
Site Analysis
Zone segregation
Zone segregation is based on 3 characteristic AURAL: form are manipulated to direct sound VISUAL: open hallways. change in volumn SYMBOLIC: observation tower clear dominance in the space
Quarters are divided 3 stage. Surveillance will reduce as an inmate moved to the higher stage. After the last stage, inmate are then send to community centre were they can interact with local people..
Each unit has an envelope form that leave one entry/ exit. Each Unit form has an individual function. To dilute each function together to form a site a buffering zone or an common area has plot.

Woman Education And Training Centre
Woman Quarter Stage 2
Juvenile Education Centre
Juvenile Quarter Stage 2
Stage 3 quarters for women and juvenile inmate. This area is under low surveillance area. More open field and more space/activities for their interaction. Some session will be held by the women inmate for juvenile inmate. The central zone‟s building are preserved beside two wall which is turned into hallway to connect to different zone.
Community centre will give inmate a platform to show their talent, their skill to outer world. Out door exhibition place to display their work. Small cabins for the interviews/cordinatewithcampany. Even the local people can see their displayed work.
This is the buffering zone provided between each unit. Buffering zone means it can be both public interaction zone or just an activity zone for inmates. The main boundary has a slippery plaster to avoid the climbing risk.
Classroom don‟t have any doors. Has door provide a compact and closed atmosphere which display restriction. Different volume on same plane is provided to break the symmetry of form. bright color wall instead of plan blank plaster
Visitor‟s centre and community centre are kept under high surveillance as inmate are allowed to walk and talk with people. So most of spaces are kept open and theirs a wide distance between two building so the inmate won‟t get a change to hide in the passage. The tress shade the passage but don‟t hide the view.

Urban fabric refers to the physical urban environment. The urban fabric theme studies the relations between tangible and intangible structures in different contexts. It promotes two design strategies: the application of design patterns and the use of scenarios.
In urban studio, the urban project was divided into 6 themes. One of them is Urban Historic Fabric.
URBAN HISTORIC FABRIC THEME
Initially Kothi was a connecting link from the walled city to main station. As a result commerce developed along the road, so did the series of houses. NAWAB WADA
The architectural quality of the preindustrial city, is hidden in the urban fabric, where architecture not only forms the city but is also formed by the city. The mutual relationship between the city and its architectural language demands that the design principles need to be derived from the pre-industrial fabric, which is the architectural product of that place, time and society, with its own spatial and aesthetic values.
There are two common saying – “ a sense of proportion” and “a balance outlook”. The idea of balance is used as analogue in the world of design. A composition build by two unequal.

The project started with an investigation of the local area and an understanding of the various actors and users in the area. It then made a series of suggestions for improvements.
J.N.MARG
Present society are sinking under overcrowding, lack of services and neglect, mostly as a result of the overwhelming impact of modernisation. Purpose is to give back the old lost cultural back to the society.
The kothi char Rasta consists sense of variety.one part is covered by government campus and other is totally residence.

Pparallel parking on road making road narrow Vacant space are turned into dumping area. Open spaces available are dark which is the reason people avoid the hanging out
Haphazard movement of vehicles NO CONNECTIVITY Two lanes are parallel making it difficult to cross from one to opposite lane as there is continuous vehicular flow.
Streetsâ€&#x; edge is filled with commercial activities. Residential building behind that. Residential area is filled to protect the area from flood. Because of present population the lane are dark narrow
Historic building by their layout form and materials often give a sense of place and identity. Historic areas display advanced townscape qualities that have evolved over long time. They should be studied and use them to reorient contemporary approaches to urban planning .However in India urban development problems are result of urban problems and loss of heritage
The street is live on ground and dead above as most of the resident building are vacant. (right side image)

Lack of Livability
Heritage building has lost their character though major activities are still relied on old infrastructure.
Vehicles has taken the pedestrian space.
The only vegetable shop in this street.
Old famous shops are one of the reason for heavy traffic
07
A platform to perform drama/dance and also a common ground for the neighbour‟s children to play.. Purpose was to enhance the lost culture – INDIAN MARTIAL ART „KUSKTI‟
In this core area, a sensitive approach is required so instead of putting a single structure behaving like an attraction for the whole site, segregate it into small units creating attractive feature. This will create a loop over the site.
KALAKENDRA
Orientation centre :Design intension was to go down to history and frame Vadodara. Intension was to create a loop which will cover the site and enhance the old lost culture. This centre is divided into 4 function based on old daily activities which are still functioning but faded.
People avoid to sit outside as heavy traffic and uneven pedestrian. Internal lane are dark and dense. Multiple activities of ground can change the involvement of same age public.
BAITHAK: A hall to perform their activities, a way to interact and communicate. Purpose: to give the culture back to society
RAOPURA ROAD
KALAKENDRA: A platform to perform drama dance. Purpose: to spread awareness about their lost cultural, Indian Martial Art (the place is know as akhada)
TOWARDS SALATWADA CHAR RASTA
URBAN SQUARE: A open public plaza commonly for community gathering. Purpose: was to connect the survey office and kothi and used the un used land for local people.
J.N.MARG
STREET FEAST: Full pedestrian street of food and markets where market change every week. Purpose: to divert the traffic to inner street. Highlight the Tambekar Wada.
TILAK ROAD
CONCERN IS? Ruined heritage building. Lack of defining focal point because it compromised by traffic and street parking. Faded Artefacts which kill the façade of the street. Narrow street in residential area covered by building on both side create darkness which is why people prefer to stay at their house. Most of the building facing the street are vacant.
The ground is divided into two parts, backside as a garden for neighbours and front side is the ground and stage for the drama. Tyrek wrap a synthetic material can be use as display.
08
„Baithak‟ is facing the street an old traditional way to interact and communicate act as a halt place. Theatre practice/festival time it can used for gathering. Talking discussing about it design principle are kept same as balcony front otla near entrance margin used in open air workspace.
All the building which is not in used can be transfer as BAITHAK which will divide the traffic.. Instead of forcing the whole traffic into one direction/ on one building. Market fail to act as a public space because of it‟s lack of defining focal point.

In this studio , we have to design for LHS, MHS and villas maintaining the balance atmosphere. Purpose was to design a straight line where each division can merged.

RESIDENTIAL AREA
STUDIO
The site is located in residential area. Army quarters on the left side of the site. Brief was to provide the most suitable environment to different user/category.
4BHK & 3BHK
STUDIO
Concept is based on ROGER ANGER principle which break the simplicity of the faรงade. Building itself is the cluster of boxes. The boxes went out of the initial volume in order to provide space and light.. As an outcome, there is a game of shadow between faรงade levels/dept. Mixed apartment of 3BHK and 4BHK to maintain the variation in faรงade. Every balcony has a open view. Orientation of the building help to maintain privacy.
Club house is in between the villas and 4BHK/3BHK tower with free space to dilute the heavy mass around them.

As firm was not comfortable sharing the firmâ€&#x;s work outside the office. There are 3 projectâ€&#x;s 3D views of the design project I have work during my internship. Most of them are residential building
Training work
(residential/commercial/interior)
RESIDENCE DESIGN: This is my first design project as a trainee. I was asked to design a residence building for a conservative Muslim family with basic requirement and also consider the exterior. They want two living room , one for family other one for unknown/work person. T hey have another house in the same society so they want a connection( a back enter) so I have provided stair both side. Landscape is provided at the entrance which till inside. One courtyard is provided at centre ,which has bedroom on two side and one side is connected to living and staircase area.
14
This project was the part of a campus project in ooty. Purpose was to design a holiday place. All having same faรงade . This five plot belong to one owner I have design including wooden and modern house. The slope difference between the plot is 3m. The client has demand of keeping the elevation same. I was asked to edit it. But during the editing the plan has opened with many problem , so we decided to re - plan the old plan keeping the elevation same. The each floor is one apartment. Staircase is provided at the back of the house. steel bars are used as a exposed frame structure. Rubble retaining wall are provided. Instead of providing every plot a parking space, a ground near the entrance is allotted for common parking.
15
MODERN HOUSE, OOTY PROJECT
This plot is at the peak of site, so this plot was choose to be a catching point of the whole side. We decide to use those material which was not used on other plot. Eg : colour metal, expose concrete, brackets , steel bars, white wood. The plan was basic like any other plot, the ground floor will act has one block where as the first floor will act has second. The slope on this plot was at 3 m height over 2 m so the plan was given a lvl difference between living room and bedroom area.

I develop my interest in furniture and urban field during my training period. Different workshop helped me to work with different material: steel, bamboo, clay and furniture. Interested in photography of place having unique story and hidden cultural. Travel picture of untouched field.
Additional Work
