ISKAR POSTINDUSTRIAL PARK Iskar is a river flowing in the eastern periphery of Sofia. The territory around Iskar river is dominated by manmade landscapes - major industrial buidlings, transport infrastructure and brownfields. Many sand quarries are scattered along the river bed. Their impact is quite remakable - due to excavations many artificial lakes have apeared and have altered the territory. Machines and plants are coexisting and are creating a heterogenous landscape. However a turning point is coming as most of these quarries are to be closed in two or three decades. The objective of this project is to socialise and revitalise these damaged lanscapes. To create a new periurban park for the citizens of Sofia and the adjacent villages. A conteporary park respecting the memory of the territory.

The revitalisation of Iskar post-industrial park would be a long process that would need many stages of intervention. Among the ďŹ rst of them would be the creation of a visitors centre. A place where people could learn about the past of the territory and participate in its post-industrial regeneration. A multilayered area is proposed for the future visitors centre - there are quarries, artiďŹ cial lakes and the Iskar riparian zone. The main building of the centre is located on the intersection of all these patches of land and acts as a starting point for exploration. Another three pavilions are spread around the territory and each of them depicts a different landscape: lakes, quarries and river. They serve as exhibition spaces and lookouts where visitors are invited to explore the lanscape and to learn more about Iskar post-industrial park.

SPORTS SCHOOL IN PLOVDIV The project explores the possibilities for a new sport school in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. This is a speciďŹ c kind of schools typical for Bulgaria and the countries of the Eastern block. These specialize in developing a student’s talent in a sport, while also providing a strong academic program. Unlike ordinary schools, pupils spend their whole day and night inside. They live in a campus with dorms, classrooms and a variety of sports facilities. Every day is organized in shifts morning and afternoon - for school and sports classes. The goal is to train children into athletes for the Olympics and other competitive events. The challenge is to design a building working on different scales and providing different atmospheres for sports, educational and recreational activities.

SPORTS SCHOOL DORMS
In this context of transition on an urban scale, the plot is divided into three functional stripes: dorms, school and sports.
The campus comprises three blocks: a dorms block for the pupils to sleep in, a school block with classrooms and a sports block with different halls. An atrium links the school to the sports halls.
DORMS The dorms block is is organised in two parts: one for boys and one for girls. All the units are individual and give a sense of privacy to the pupils. There are several living rooms serving as places for socialising. They are connecting every two storeys of the building with double height glazings visible on its brick facade.
SCHOOL The school block consists of classrooms, rooms for teachers and administration as well as a canteen. In addition a vast atrium seves as a place for gathering and communication for the whole school. This block is made of prefabricated concrete modules with full length glazings on their sides or top.
SPORTS HALLS The sports block includes three halls with different program - a swimming pool, a gym with an outdoor pitch on the roof and a multifunctional sports hall suitable for handball, basketball and volleyball. All the halls are partialy submerged beneath the ground oor in order to minimize their visual impact. The halls are covered with transluscent ploycarbonate panels.
SCALE The sports school is formed by spaces of different scale. The more time pupils are spending in a space, the bigger the space is. Thus the dorms are composed of very small compact individual rooms, classrooms are medium sized and sports halls are the biggest as they are the most important spaces in sports school.

ARTIST RESIDENCE IN VITOSHA The cabin is nestled in the forests of Vitosha, the mountain dominating Sofia. Built along with a mountain lodge in 1956, the small shelter remains abandonned today. The proposal explores the potential of the cabin as artist residence that benefits from its natural surroundings. A place where a small group of people can spend a week working and reflecting, while enjoying the tranquility and the scenery of the mountain. The shell of the cabin is left intact and the design focuses on the inner spaces - a groundfloor with spaces for working and relaxing as well as a basement floor with a bathroom and sauna.

The groundfloor of the cabin is divided into two areas: a hallway and a living room. In the hallway residents can use a small kitchen, have a meal or relax on the window seat. In the living room they can spend time working on the desks or discussing on the lounge chairs. There are bookshelves next to the existing fireplace and above them there is a mezzanine floor with bunkbeds.

TEMPORARY INSTALLATION 75 UACEG with Martin Vandov and Martin Petrov
In 2017 the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy /UACEG/ in Sofia was celebrating 75 years since its foundation. As a task for the Architecture Design course we had the opportunity to design and build a temporary istallation. Our concept was to exhibit the production of the university over the past years. We gathered a big number of old student projects from all the faculties. The installation consists of 140 reused cardboard panels, joined together and tightened by 11 steel ropes. Beside the various works, the exhibition wall features a three dimensional logo of UACEG. It is designed as an anamorphic projection, visible from a specific point in the university’s foyer.

The four identical apartments for rental are located in Hisarya, a town famous for its mineral springs. The design is based on the same spatial features, but different materials are used in order to acheive different atmospheres in each of the apartments. A sliding panel separates the bedroom from the living room or hides the kitchen, depending on its position.

BANK OFFICE IN TIRANA conceptual design | visualisations
The goal of the bank redesign is to acheive an international face of the bank, including however some local characteristics. On the one hand, custom designed desks, specific lighting, wooden panellling, use of red colour and graphic design serve as a template for all the offices. On the other hand, terrazzo flooring and traditional pattern upholstery give the space a local character.
