It is said that necessity is the mother of invention. In our case, Greer, SC resident Sallie Smith was the necessity and DillardJones Renovations, LLC was the invention. A longtime fan of all things Southern Living®, Sallie visited the first Dillard-Jones Builders Southern Living Showcase Home in 2007 and fell in love with it. She asked us to renovate her 30-year-old residence to create a more open plan with updated features for family gatherings and entertaining. Since we weren’t a renovations company, we tried to convince Sallie to build a new home. We couldn’t persuade her, so we renovated her existing farmhouse into her dream home. After completing the extensive renovation, we realized that we enjoyed the process of creating something new out of something old. Sallie’s renovation in 2008 was the beginning of Dillard-Jones Renovations and now when we see Sallie, she reminds us that she was right all along – a custom home renovation company was a natural extension of our skills and passion for building.
