Design Thesis - Centre for Performing Arts

B.Arch Studio - Sem IX (July ‘20 - Dec ‘20)

Site location: Rajkot, Gujarat, India

Area: 480,000 sqft

A centre that would comprise of multi-functional spaces that would cater to a very wide demographic would provide ample opportunities the city is lacking currently. There is no place in the city that would fulfill all the requirements satisfactorily.

Institution Design and Working Drawing

B.Arch Studio - Sem V (July ‘18 - Dec ‘18) & Sem VI (Jan ‘19 - Jun ‘19)

Site location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India

Area: 33,000 sqft

The breif was to design a school for the students of std 1-8 belonging to the neighbouring economically weaker section of Vadaj area. 16 classrooms were to be designed along with a few amenities.

Later, in the next semester, we were supposed to produce working drawings for the same project where we tried to solve the technicalities of the design.

31
32

This is the basic layout of classes taking into consideration the key aspects; nature of circulation and heirarchy of spaces.

33
Two different types of spaces; a common open space in the center and a private space in the back. The circulation pattern; entrance foyer - courtyard - passage - open ground.

Residence of Kiran Bhai

A 4BHK Bungalow with a play of volumes. This project was handed over to me completely from the very first meeting with the client. Taking into consideration of the very simple brief and few considerations of Vastu, the design evolved a lot under the guidance of Bankim Sir and the meetings with the client.

I definitely improved my communication skills, thanks to the many client meetings I could attend. It is very important for an architect to communicate with clients and understand what they want before they can start working on it.

Responsibilities in this Project :-

Designing of the Bungalow

All Construction Drawings

Designing Plans, Sections and Elevations

3-D modeling

Mokshdham Cemetary

A Cemetary in Chicago based on Sri Yantra.

The Project started by drafting of the simple yet complex Sri Yantra. Understanding the design process and then translating sketches to actual sections and details was a task in this project.

Understanding the contours led to an interesting and appropriate use of the mezzanine floor.

Playing with volumes and symmetry led to having an imposing elevation.

Responsibilities in this Project :-

Designing of Sections and Elevations

This section has a collection of hand made models and photographs taken during the study program and personal trips (2016-2020). The models were made as a part of various courses offered which helped understand the architecture and structure of the built form.
