Andrea Vattovani Architecture is a young practice working in the field of architecture and design. Founded in 2008 the practice has developed many Â projects in several countries in the last years. The practice designed various kind of projects, from interior design to shopping centers, from furniture to libraries. We are present in Graz with a representative office. The crucial points of the practice are surely the reduction of form and attention for details, trying to achieve always a noble architecture with a concentrated attention for the functionality.

Sensational The Iankovics Penthouse is the last floor conversion of a building initially born as a single-family home at the end of the sixties. It was successively divided into three flats. The project is the simple result of a reflection about the place and the client characteristics. The sight of the staircase and the wall cuts makes the first impact when entering the house. This invites the guest to go upstairs and to focus their sight on the wonderful gulf of Trieste. In the main part of the residence it is possible to perceive immediately the division between the public part and the private one. The day zone is very bright and it develops a very important relationship with the outside. The materials are deliberately richer in the balcony and more modest inside in order to emphasize the ownerĂ˘â&#x201A;Źâ&#x201E;˘s search for open space. The night zone, with the wardrobe and the open studio, is the private heart of the house. It creates a second world where the privacy becomes the symbol. There is a cut in the wall above the bed that has a double purpose: internally, the function as a continuously changing picture and externally, defining the beginning of the private zone as opposition of the day zone window.

Mustang is actually a show room. The design for the interior was planned to be modern but at the same time to achieve a timeless style who could reach the taste of different people. The interior was made for an austrian real estate developer who wanted in one of his biggest investion, a flat/ show room to show to customers whom possibly could be interested in the project. The most difficult task was to develop a flat without an actual customer and obviosly that we had to use the standard layout and material.

Belvedere It was long time ago when our practice for the first time worked with this client. He asked us to renovate a small flat for himself. We developed one of our really first projects with him a very nice small penthouse with beautiful view on the Gulf of Trieste. After a couple of years and a grown family the client came back to us saying he wants to live again in a project of us. That was for us the best compliment. We renovate a flat that was basically perfect for living, renovated just five years before. But the atmosphere was not the one our client expected to live in so we start from scratch. We changed everything mostly defining a public space divided from a private space and moved all public spaces on the sea side. After that we decided to develop the interior in white, the most beautiful color in which every color is reflected, in which every shadow create a new tone. A background for the life of our client.

In a beautiful country side of the south of Styria, well known for the great white wines, we got the commision to convert a beautiful old farmhouse from 1838. The house conrversion was strictly controlled from the city commision who has a council of architects for this kind of cases in order to preserve the best buildings. We decided from the beginning to practice this project with the most humility we could in order to preserve the old structure as much as possible and we adapt the outside to the new functions and to a modern lifestyle with the most sensitive changes. There are two small changes first the big windows to living room and second the big dormer of the upper floor in order to bring a lot of light inside. We tried to work with old elemnts of the sourrounding outside, but the inside change complete and became a tribute to the modern living in a â&#x20AC;&#x153;old boxâ&#x20AC;?. Nice ample space with douple high with mezzanine and straight lines characterize the house inside with a really moern result but still preserving the old wood structure that becomes part of the interiors.

The â&#x20AC;&#x153;Book Templeâ&#x20AC;? is the design for the new city public library of Graz, a modern concept that allowed people to rent books, movies and music like most of the newest hybrid libraries where customers can access to any kind of medias. The concept is really easy, an endless line as a symbol for the dynamic and contemporary where everything take place. Each person knows where he is going with this simple concept the orientation is brought completely in foreground. A longish element which follows the whole floor plane and leads the visitor from the entrance to the inside. The library always has been a place for culture improvement, and always where characterized trough the repetition of elements, the bookshelf, the books. The sequence of shelves with the books is a mark able sign

of a roundly known image of a library and want to give the idea of a sacral place to emphasises te important of culture. Design and functionality where brought to one line to combine the highest interests of users and to get an ambitious interior design. Natural elements where used in this project to achieve an harmonical atmosphere In the first row of this project is the user itself that convey the force of knowledge and the importance of libraries. The language of shapes should be an allusion to the always recurring of the strength in libraries. Aligned to the time and its function it becomes a kind of temple with a comfortable ambience. Nothing is a new invention , the design process was more of a contemporary implemented version of the old libraries.

„Dies ist die Geschichte von der wunderbaren Verwandlung eines hässlichen Entleins zum weiß-strahlenden Schwan…“ So ähnlich könnte man die Intention unseres Entwurfes deuten. Unser Ziel war es, ein leichtes, freundliches Gebäude zu entwickeln, das einerseits die geforderten Funktionen zweckmäßig erfüllt, andererseits repräsentativ und einladend auf seine Umgebung wirkt. der Vorplatz... Der bestehende Vorplatz spielt dabei eine wichtige Rolle. Zur Zeit abgesperrt und alles andere als einladend wird er als öffentliche Fläche konzipiert. Diese dient als Bewegungsfläche, Treffpunkt und Kommunikationszone die sowohl von Sportlern, Bediensteten des ASKÖ, als auch der Öffentlichkeit genutzt werden soll. Das neue ASKÖ Center ist als Kopfgebäude am Südwest-Ende situiert. Mit einer sehr klaren, leichten Form die über dem ASKÖ Schriftzug zu schweben scheint, wird der Platz klar definiert und der Eingang des Centers als Platzerweiterung ausgeführt. Das Muster des Platzbelages, eine Ableitung des ASKÖ Logos, wird dabei bis zum Spielfeldrand geführt. getrennte Nutzung... Im Bereich des Vordaches befinden sich die beiden Haupteingänge und der Aufgang zur bestehenden Tribüne. Somit kann jede Funktionseinheit des Centers getrennt genutzt werden. Das im Erdgeschoß großzügig verglaste Foyer erweitert sich über eine Galerie Richtung Sportplatz hin ins 1. Obergeschoß und wird zum Buffet mit Terrasse. Die dadurch entstehende Doppelhöhe lässt ein angenehm freies Raumgefühl entstehen und setzt die markante Form der Hallentribüne in Szene. Weiters ergeben sich Blickbeziehungen zum im Obergeschoß angeordneten Büro.

Das Büro wird von einem getrennten Stiegenkern erschlossen und ist als Freiraumbüro konzipiert, das durch abwechselnd geschlossene Bereiche gegliedert wird. An der Nordseite angeordnet entstehen helle Arbeitsplätze mit Sicht begrüntes Flachdach trägt. über den Platz und den Schlosspark. Im Untergeschoß befinden sich die Sporthallen und das Bewegungszentrum. Über einen gemeinsamen Schmutzgang werden die jeweiligen Umkleiden erschlossen. Zwischen Umkleiden und Sporthallen ist je ein zusätzlicher Saubergang geschaltet, der eine flexible Nutzung und freie Bewegung innerhalb der Halle(n), auch im getrennten Zustand, ermöglicht. das Fachwerk... Um die Idee des Leichten und Freundlichen umzusetzen wird das gesamte Obergeschoß als „Fachwerkbox“ in die Höhe gehoben und Platzseitig punktuell getragen (ASKÖ - Schriftzug). Diese Tragkonstruktion ermöglicht eine fließende Raumentwicklung im Bereich des Foyers und eine rundum laufende Belichtung durch die Fachwerkkonstruktion. Den oberen Abschluss bildet ein Trägerrost, der ein begrüntes Flachdach trägt. der weiße Schwan… Ein zeitloser Gebäudekomplex, der sich schlüssig in den bestehenden Kontext eingliedert. Repräsentativ und funktionell gibt er dem ASKÖ Stadion ein freundliches und einladendes Gesicht.

Unter den gegebenen Umständen war eine Aufstockung der Schule eine logisch Konsequenz. Da der Altbestand nicht belastet werden durfte, wurde ein statisches Konzept erstellt das einer Tischkonstruktion ähnelt. Diese Konstruktion wurde im Entwurf als eine Box mit sechs Stützen umgesetzt. Da das Raumprogramm hauptsächlich eine Erweiterung der Musikklassen vorsah, entschlossen wir uns, diesen Bereichals eigenen Einheit, schalltechnisch getrennt, sehr prominent anzuordnen. Diese prominente Lage wurde mit einem 3. Obergeschoß, schwebend über dem Bestand umgesetzt. Die Raumstruktur wird von Licht durchfluteten offenen Bereichen dominiert, die ein sehr helles angenehmes Ambiente schaffen. Offenen Lernzonen dienen dabei als Kommunikations- und Begegnungsflächen, aber gleichzeitig auch als Rückzugs- und Lernlandschaften. Durch die großzügig verglaste Fassade hat man ebenso einen wunderbaren Ausblick auf die innere Stadt. Zwischen dem neuen Musiktrakt und dem Bestand wird die Schulstruktur durch zwei Klassen-Lernzonen Einheiten ergänzt.

Diese sind als Leichtbauelemente auf das bestehende Dach gesetzt. Im restlichen Gebäude gibt es ansonsten nur minimale Eingriffe, wir zum Beispiel der Lehrertrakt im 1. Obergeschoß. Als zusätzliche Maßnahme wird in unserem Entwurf der bestehende Mehrzwecksaal ebenfalls in das neue 3. Obergeschoß verortet, da sich die Umnutzung als Tanzsaal 2, mit Mitbenutzung der bestehenden Umkleideräumlichkeiten sehr anbietet. Ein neuer Mehrzwecksaal mit Nebenräumen kann vom Eingang (Aula) mittels Lift einfach erreicht werden und ist somit ebenfalls für externe Veranstaltungen (und externe Besucher) bestens geeignet.

Gebäude repräsentiert eine zeitlose Architektur und vermittelt eine harmonische Beziehung zu seinem Umfeld. Aus diesen Parametern entwickelte sich ein monolithischer Baukörper. Die Fassade entwickelte sich durch die Parametrisierung von Klaviertasten zu einem regelmäßigen Fassadenraster, welches gleichzeitig als Tragstruktur dient. Unserer Meinung ist das Material Beton, durch seine Stein anmutigende Oberfläche gut für eine Institution wie die Universität geeignet, da dies ein Ausdruck von Standhaftigkeit und historischer Bedeutung ist. Von außen wirkt das Gebäude streng aber gleichzeitig dramatisch und ikonisch, es respektiert seine angrenzenden Gebäude und möchte trotzdem auf sich aufmerksam machen. Das Gebäude wird über den überdachten Vorplatz betreten und öffnet sich im inneren mit einem großzügigen, lichtdurchflutetet Atrium, welches die Kommunikation zwischen den Instituten fördert. Durch diesen zentralen Kern des Gebäudes werden Blickbeziehungen zwischen einzelnen Bereichen ermöglicht. Eine wichtige Ader der Institute befindet sich im Herzen des Atriums, die Stiege. Sie ermöglicht durch

ihre Konstruktion schnelle Verbindungen und kurze Wege und kann als Kulisse für unterschiedliche Aktivitäten dienen. Um zusätzliche Außenflächen zu schaffen können im Sommer Terrassenflächen im 2. Und 3.Obergeschoss genutzt werden, welche einen guten Überblick über den Innenhof der UNI mit seinem grünen Park bietet. Dieses Zusatzangebot wird über das Atrium erschlossen und erweitert dieses. Das Geländer im Atriumbereich wird mit den Namen bekannter Absolventen und bedeutender österreichischer Persönlichkeiten aus der Musikszene und der darstellenden Kunst gestaltet. Es bildet eine Art „Wall of Fame“ um die Studenten zu erinnern.

Connection to old Museum and SegerstrĂĽle Fresco. The connection to the old museum is very logical. The foyer will be connected directly to the old building with a wide corridor that will already be also exposition, the intervention will be also as less as possible but will also improve definitely the first impression of the old museum. Removing the floor of the old library room with the Fresco of Lennart SegerstrĂĽle we will finally be able to appreciate completely the stengh and beauty of the Fresco of the Finnish painter, one of the most important finnish artists in the early 1900s . The room will be made by unifing the the old library room and two storage rooms in the underground level in order to achieve an higher , bigger room with 4,7 meters ceiling high. Finally the Fresco will be seen from an amazing point of view allowing the visitor to see it in its entire size and from new perspective. The structure. The building will work as a truss bridge the structure will be only on the sides allowing a completely open space without structure in the middle of the corridors or exhibition space in order to offer the best flexibility. The roof is intended to be a statical rost beetwenn the span of the truss structure. This kind of structure will also allow without problems to achieve the span lenght necessary to connect the island to the land and the suspended terrace. The entrance. The new building will not affect at all the faĂ§ade of the existent museum or its out coming. Only a minimal intervention on the square design with a new pavement, will with respect show the direction to the new building/old-way and at the same time guide the visitors to the new building. Entering will result to be natural, the guests will go down on moving walks, and will enter the new foyer from which you can reach the new and the old museum.
