Welcome
Featured Services
Rose Savage Chair,
Vaughan Public Library Board
Welcome to a new year and a new issue of What’s On! 2022 promises to be a very exciting time for Vaughan Public Libraires with lots to celebrate. The VMC Library and VMC Express will open this Spring, providing the community with a dedicated branch as well as a quick way to pick up our most popular items using an innovative self-serve model. We’re looking forward to offering culinary literacy programming, and the addition of the VMC’s community kitchen will allow us to develop curated sessions for all ages. Maple Library will also be reopening after its renovation and you can enjoy a new bright and vibrant space with enhanced ease of access, wonderful design features and an outdoor reading garden. We’re also planning a special celebration for Woodbridge Library, which has been part of the VPL system for 50 years — between now and then we will share stories about the staff, our customers and the location. As ever, we have a fantastic range of programs in the following pages and I wanted to draw you attention to a few in particular. Select VPL branches attached to community centres will be open on Family Day with activities for kids and we are also hosting virtual PA Day events in February. Adults are invited to learn about health literacy, or get ready to learn 7 Wonders online – just one of many board games in our collection. Finally, budding chefs of all ages can join us to learn the history and tradition of Chinese dumplings, as well as some expert tips to make your cooking world class. Take care and all the best in 2022! Rose 2 | www.vaughanpl.info
PRINT DISABILITIES ARE NO BARRIER AT VPL Customers with print disabilities can access a range of resources at our branches to connect with our collection. Enjoy books, magazines, newspapers and described videos in a variety of formats including audio, e-text, downloadable and braille formats. Ask a staff member for more information.
FAMILY DAY FUN Select VPL locations will be open on Family Day from 9am to 5pm. Join us to borrow an item, use our spaces or take part in family activities. Check out our website for more details.
MAKE YOUR SMILE BUTTON! Masks are critically important, but can hide how we feel and what we look like, which are important when interacting with the public, especially families who may have special needs, such as those with ASD. Have a button made of your face by visiting our Creation Space page vaughanpl.info/shareit/bookings/ and show your smile to the world.
