Welcome
Featured Services
Rose Savage Chair,
Vaughan Public Library Board
Welcome to the July – August issue of What’s On! School may be out, but Vaughan Public Libraries is not taking a break this Summer! Our Teen Summer Challenge and TD Summer Reading Club are in full swing, and we recently introduced culinary literacy programming at the VMC Library. These sessions will provide you with the opportunity to discover more about food, its role in culture and history while increasing your literacy skills in a beautiful new teaching kitchen. Perhaps you will even discover a new family favourite. We’ve also been busy building a better and expanded library system. In June we celebrated the groundbreaking for a new library in Vaughan’s east end. The Carrville Community Centre and Library is planned to open in 2024 and we’ll keep you updated on construction progress here and on our building blog. While the shovels are now in the ground at a future branch, renovation work continues at Woodbridge Library. We have been busy upgrading the lower level to create bright new multi-purpose spaces, and designing a significant improvement to the Woodbridge Avenue entrance. What better way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the library at this location! If you want to enjoy the great outdoors this summer, why not enjoy one of five Storywalks? We have partnered with the City of Vaughan to introduce story panels in some of our fantastic parks. You can enjoy a pleasant walk with your family, while also discovering a book, page by page. For locations near you, visit vaughanpl.info/storywalk Enjoy your Summer with VPL! Rose 2 | www.vaughanpl.info

Experience dedicated study spaces, a vibrant children’s area, gourmet teaching kitchen, a selfservice library, free wi-fi internet and more. Visit us at 200 Apple Mill Road and learn all about our newest library branch at vaughanpl.info/vmc
INTRODUCING CULINARY LITERACY Coffee, sushi, candy and more! Discover new recipes, master your kitchen gadgets and have fun with our new programs hosted at the VMC Library and online. Check out the section on page 14 for more info!
