Welcome
Featured Services
Rose Savage Chair, Vaughan Public Library Board
Welcome to the June issue of What’s On and the start of an exciting Summer season at Vaughan Public Libraries! We have programming for all age groups, and as the school vacations approach, many parents may be looking for activities to help their children engage in learning and creativity. This year we will be offering virtual editions of our Teen Summer Challenge, TD Summer Reading Club and VPL Science Fair. The Science Fair will be live at the start of the month. Our Summer-long programs will launch in mid-June and I encourage you to visit our website for more details.
Take a Hike …or more accurately a StoryWalk®! VPL has partnered with Public Works to install StoryWalk® at five parks across the City. Get outside and walk the trail to discover delightful children’s books page by page. Visit the link below for locations and info on the featured stories: www.vaughanpl.info/blog/storywalks-city-vaughan-trails/
We now deliver so many programs online in order to adapt to the changing needs of our community! The key driver since Spring 2020 has been the pandemic; but elsewhere our services continue to change as Vaughan grows. Our work on new libraries at VMC and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital continues and we remain on schedule to open later this year. We’ve held public information sessions on the new library at Carville Community Centre, as well as potential expansion in West Woodbridge. Finally, renovations on Maple Library are set to begin, and we will deliver a bright modern space for our customers. You can find out more about these projects on our building blog. We are very excited about our library system and sharing better times with you in the future. Best regards, Rose
TD Grade One Book Giveaway If you have a child in grade one they are eligible to receive a free book courtesy of TD! Just visit one of our Resource Library curbside locations and ask for your copy. Books are available in English or French, but supplies are limited, so get yours today!
