VP L 2021– 2025 Strategic Plan
ENRICHINSPIRETRANSFORM VISION Enrich Inspire Transform. Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) exists at the heart of our community, providing an extensive collection of resources and welcoming spaces for learning, connecting and discovering. To grow our services and evolve to meet the needs of our customers we will rely upon this Strategic Plan that draws from the strength of our entire community and will provide direction for what promises to be an exciting five years. Invaluable feedback came from all age groups at virtual public sessions and staff at all levels provided input. This plan has been shaped and honed by a dedicated and engaged group of trustees that compose the Vaughan Public Library Board. By following the roadmap outlined in the following pages, we will ensure that VPL maintains its reputation as an innovative and nimble organization with an outstanding commitment to service excellence. This is why community collaboration, partnerships and the constant pursuit of new methodologies to best serve our community will be priorities as we continue to evolve. It’s also why we will continue to integrate technology as a vehicle for change, providing our customers with better ways to connect with our services, use our spaces and engage with our staff. Vaughan is a world-class city, and you deserve a world-class library system. Our commitment to you is that we will build on our already high standards, expand our services and collections and find new ways of connecting with everyone to enhance your experience at Vaughan Public Libraries. We invite you to join us on this journey.
Our newly released Strategic Plan provides valuable insights into our vision of a World Class Library System. These guiding principles are based on extensive public consultation, staff input and guidance from our library board. We encourage you to read our 2021-2026 Strategic Plan. VPL’s 2020 Annual Report will be released and posted on our website. We have some remarkable achievements to celebrate and share with you; our valued customers, and I am very proud of everyone’s work as 2020 was a year like no other. 2021-2025 Strategic Plan
We are happy to share some positive news with you. On March 8, our three Resource Libraries (Civic Centre, Pierre Berton and Bathurst Clark) will reopen! You will be able to browse the collection, enjoy our spaces, continue programming virtually; however, the study/meeting rooms and creative spaces will remain closed. Curbside pickup remains in place at our library locations; except for our three Resource Libraries. At our Maple library, our curbside pickup is suspended as our renovations begin and the attached Community Centre will be used as a vaccination site to help local efforts.
