Welcome

Featured Services

Rose Savage Chair,

Vaughan Public Library Board

Welcome to the November – December issue of What’s On! As we prepare to close out the year, I think it’s important to look back at some of the achievements in the past 12 months. VPL’s online programming has continued to be a hit with you, and the variety in the following pages is a testament to the creativity of staff and their ability to create programming that appeals to all members of our community. We also believe that libraries exist at the heart of the community, which is why we opened locations when it was safe to do so and provided curbside pickup to keep you connected with the materials you love when we have had to close our doors. Talking of borrowing you can now check out household items, cooking, tools and more via the Lendery. Our biggest news has been the expansion of service through new branches. In September Mackenzie Health Vaughan Library opened its doors. This was the culmination of years of hard work by staff, partners and the Library Board, and I am glad to report that this location has been embraced by everyone at the Hospital and the local neighbourhood. We are following this up with the soft opening of the VMC Library, to be coming soon! This new location provides a wealth of space, collections, and programming, while also offering culinary literacy classes in the community kitchen, as well as an innovative self-serve location with the ground-level VMC Express. We look forward to building upon these successes in 2022! Best regards, Rose

JOIN US AT OUR NEWEST LOCATION Stay tuned to our social media and website for more details about the opening of a brand new library at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre. This beautiful space includes spots to relax, study, read with little ones, culinary literacy programming and an express location for busy people on the go. Can't wait? We're also now open at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. See you there!

PRINT YOUR VACCINE RECEIPT FOR FREE Many businesses, services and employers are requesting proof of vaccination. If you would like to print a physical copy, we can do that for free. We’ll show you how to use your health card, date of birth and postal code to access and print your record.

BOOK IT TO OUR ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE! Get in the holiday mood by giving what you CAN. From December 1 to 15, VPL is accepting donations of non-perishable food items at all locations for our 15th annual Food Drive. Collected items will be donated to the Vaughan Food Bank, Humanity First and Chasdei Kaduri. Show your support for our community and make a difference.
