TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES QUESTION, PERSUADE, REFER (QPR) – SUICIDE PREVENTION WEB-BASED TRAINING Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States. During the global pandemic, when fear, anxiety and depression are heightened for many people, thoughts of suicide may be more common. It’s important to know about available support strategies. Vaya’s Provider and Community Education Team will offer three additional free “Question, Persuade, Refer” (QPR) suicide prevention trainings in June for provider staff and community members. Each training is limited to 25 participants. Thursday, June 4, 2020, 9 – 11 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2020, 9 – 11 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2020, 2 – 4 p.m.

SUPPORTED HOUSING (CST-PSH) TRAINING Begins Tuesday, June 2, 2020 CST-PSH training helps CST providers improve their understanding and practice of the PSH model. This training takes place in four-hour segments (8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) on four days (June 2, 9, 16 and 23, 2020). Full attendance each day is required to receive credit. REGISTER: CST-PSH TRAINING
COVID-19 RECOVERY ACT EXTENDS HIE JUNE 1 DEADLINE N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper signed the COVID-19 Recovery Act (NCSL 2020-3) into law on May 4, 2020, which extends the requirement to connect to the state-designated HIE network, NC HealthConnex, from June 1, 2020, to Oct. 1, 2021. This deadline is applicable to all providers, including those who have shown a good faith effort to connect to NC HealthConnex and have a valid participation agreement on file. The extension is intended to allow the large queue of healthcare providers who are in active onboarding to complete the connection process. Depending on your EHR software, connecting to NC HealthConnex can take up 12 months. Note: Providers who have signed a participation agreement do not need to take further action. The NC HealthConnex technical team will reach out directly to providers as needed. Please email HIEA@nc.gov with any questions.
