N.C. DHHS SEEKING COVID-19 TESTING AND CONTACT TRACING SUPPORT N.C. DHHS has issued a new request for qualifications (RFQ) to create a pool of qualified vendors to support the response to COVID-19 by providing diagnostic and antibody testing, including specimen collection and laboratory processing, as well as contact tracing. DHHS is prioritizing working with minority-owned business vendors or vendors who retain a diverse workforce. All vendor applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to support focused testing and tracing efforts for historically marginalized populations. African

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES QUESTION, PERSUADE, REFER (QPR) – SUICIDE PREVENTION WEB-BASED TRAINING Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States. During this global pandemic, when fear, anxiety and depression are heightened for many people, thoughts of suicide may be more common. It’s important to know about available support strategies. Vaya’s Provider and Community Education Team will offer additional free “Question, Persuade, Refer” (QPR) suicide prevention trainings in June for provider staff and community members. Each training is limited to 25 participants. Thursday, June 11, 2020, 9 – 11 a.m. (11 slots available) Monday, June 15, 2020, 2 – 4 p.m. (Seven slots available)

CLINICAL ROUNDTABLE – HOW ARE TREATMENT CENTERS HANDLING COVID-19? Thursday, June 4, 2020, 3 – 4 p.m. Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS), a program funded by SAMHSA, will hold a “roundtable” discussion about changes to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This discussion is designed to promote interactivity through informal conversation, and participants will have the opportunity to discuss questions and issues with the presenter. MHIDD FOR MOBILE CRISIS RESPONDERS WEBINAR TRAINING COURSE Beginning Tuesday, June 16, 2020 The Center for START Services has opened registration for two virtual training courses on mental health aspects of IDD (MHIDD) for mobile crisis responders. The course consists of six webinar sessions (75 minutes each) that teach best practices in crisis assessment, response and disposition recommendations.
