ROUTINE MONITORING AND INVESTIGATIONS To preserve provider resources during the initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Vaya Health temporarily suspended provider monitoring activities in March. As outlined in our contracts with N.C. DHHS, Vaya will resume record requests and provider monitoring (including but not limited to provider self audits, complaint investigations, special investigations and routine post-payment reviews) effective July 1, 2020. This will not include site visits, except in cases of health and safety concerns.

DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR CARES ACT FUNDING The deadline to apply for the current round of CARES Act Provider Relief Fund grants is July 20, 2020. Eligible providers can receive 2% of gross revenue from patient care as reported in revenue and tax documents submitted with the application. The Provider Relief Fund is not a loan, like the Paycheck Protection Program. If qualifying providers meet the terms and conditions of the program, there is no requirement to repay any of the funds received. Learn more: CARES Act Provider Relief Fund

DHHS GUIDANCE ON RESIDENTIAL SETTINGS DHHS has developed new guidance on visitation and activities in residential settings: Guidance for Smaller Residential Settings Regarding Visitation, Communal Dining, Group and Outside Activities: Applies to settings with six or fewer beds (e.g., family


care homes, supervised living group homes and alternate family living arrangements) (June 26, 2020) Updated Guidance on Outdoor Visitation for Larger Residential Settings (Adult Care Homes, Behavioral Health/IDD, Intermediate Care Facilities, Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities) (June 26, 2020) Additionally, please note that staff at long-term care facilities in North Carolina must wear face coverings, per Section II. B. 9. of Executive Order No. 147 (Extension of Phase 2 Order and New Measures to Save Lives in The COVID-19 Pandemic), which went into effect Friday, June 26, 2020. The requirement applies to settings including skilled nursing facilities, adult care homes, family care homes, mental health group homes and intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The order states that staff “must wear Face Coverings while in the facility, and those Face Coverings must be Surgical Masks, as long as Surgical Mask supplies are available.”

DHHS SUICIDE PREVENTION VIRTUAL TOWN HALL SERIES July 1, 2020, 3 p.m. N.C. DMH/DD/SAS will host the second presentation in a series of town hall discussions on suicide prevention. This virtual town hall will feature panelists with lived experiences and subject matter experts who focus on historically marginalized populations.
