Reminder: Provider Network Contract Manager/Claims Specialist Assignments Every provider in Vaya’s closed provider network for behavioral health, I/DD, and traumatic brain injury (TBI) services is assigned a provider network contract manager and claims specialist. Your contract manager serves as your first point of contact for any issue related to Vaya, except for claims. For claims-related assistance, your claims specialist serves as your first point of contact.

First Episode Psychosis Clinic Vaya and Family Preservation Services of NC have developed a first episode psychosis (FEP) clinic, called Appalachian Early Guidance Intervention Support (AEGIS), in Buncombe County. The FEP clinic serves individuals ages 15-30 who are in the early stages of a psychotic disorder and reside in one of the following counties: Alexander, Avery, Buncombe, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Swain, Transylvania, Wilkes, Watauga, and Yancey. To be eligible, members/recipients must have a primary diagnosis of psychotic disorder (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder [bipolar or depressive type], schizophreniform disorder, brief psychotic disorder, unspecified schizophrenia spectrum disorder, or other specified schizophrenia spectrum disorder) and must have experienced their first episode of psychosis within the last three years. Members must be sufficiently behaviorally stable to participate in an outpatient-level treatment program. To submit a referral, complete the AEGIS referral form and send via secure email to FEPReferrals@pathways.com . 2023 Bicycle Helmet Initiative Call for Applications Research shows bicycle helmets prevent 60% of head injury deaths and reduce the risk of head and traumatic brain injuries by up to 85%. The NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Integrated Mobility Division's annual bicycle helmet initiative provides free protective headwear to organizations across the state to distribute to youth cyclists. Organizations can apply on the NCDOT website and request 25, 50, 75, or 100 helmets, which awardees will receive in spring 2023. The deadline for applications is Feb. 3, 2023.

Adolescent Substance Use Disorder Stakeholder Engagement Treatment Providers The NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services (Division of MHDDSAS) is hosting two meetings with stakeholders (including treatment providers) for discussion and input related to adolescent substance use disorders. Mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers who are responsible for or have knowledge/insight into the behavioral health needs of youth are encouraged to attend. LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES Initial Local Certified Forensic Evaluator Training Providers who are interested in being certified to complete forensic evaluations can attend one of two training options being offered this calendar year. The next Initial Local Certified Forensic Evaluator (LCFE) Training will be held via webinar from 8:45 a.m.-5 p.m., Feb. 24, 2023. To apply to attend the training, please review your organization’s needs and return a separate 2023 Initial LCFE Registration Form for each person you would like to participate. Both completed forms and questions should be sent to Provider.Training@vayahealth.com . The deadline for registration is 5 p.m. on Feb. 3, 2023.
