Q&A Webinar for Vaya Health Network Providers Tomorrow, Jan. 21, 2022, 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Vaya’s Provider Q&A Webinars are an important source of the most up-to-date information on topics that affect Vaya network providers. Recently, much of this information has focused on Vaya’s consolidation with Cardinal Innovations. We will dedicate the first 30 minutes of tomorrow’s webinar to general Q&A. The next 30 minutes will focus on support for providers transitioning from Cardinal Innovations. All network providers are encouraged to attend. Registration is not required. The link to each webinar is published both the week prior to and the week of the event in Vaya’s weekly Provider Communication Bulletin.

Office Hours Sessions for Providers Transitioning from Cardinal


Innovations Vaya continues to offer Provider Transition Office Hours sessions throughout January 2022. These drop-in sessions allow transitioning providers to ask questions and get answers from staff experts about Vaya’s provider network, utilization management, claims, enrollment and eligibility, care management, and AlphaMCS. Upcoming sessions are announced in the Provider Communication Bulletin the week prior to the event. Please note: Because sessions use a drop-in format with the potential for multiple providers to be in the same session simultaneously, we are not able to discuss member-specific issues during this time.

Technical Assistance Sessions for Providers Transitioning from Cardinal Innovations Vaya is offering 30-minute technical support sessions through Jan. 31, 2022, for transitioning providers who need additional assistance using AlphaMCS. Topics include navigating AlphaMCS, service authorization request (SAR) entry, claims entry, EDI enrollment, State-funded enrollment, and login issues. Providers must review the AlphaMCS educational resources offered through the AlphaMCS Portal University before requesting a technical assistance session. To register for a session, complete the online request form.

***NEW*** In Lieu of Services (ILOS) Added to the Vaya Benefit Plan NCDHHS has approved the addition of Comprehensive Clinical Support (G2021 CR) and Case Support (T1016) to Vaya’s Medicaid(b) benefit plan. Providers transitioning from Cardinal Innovations may continue to provide this service retroactive to Jan. 1, 2022. Vaya network providers can request to add these services to their contract through the provider enrollment process. If you have questions, please email provider.info@vayahealth.com.

Claims Submission Reminders: Entering Modifiers and Overlapping Billing Dates of Service Entering Base Codes with Modifiers When billing a base code with a modifier, please remember to enter only the service code (without the modifier) in the service code field. Enter the modifier into the separate modifier field. If a modifier is added to the service code field, the claim will deny. Overlapping Billing Dates of Service To reduce confusion and assist with upstream billing to NCTracks, providers should not overlap billing dates of service. For example, if a date range of Jan. 1-10 is billed, the next claim should start at Jan.


11. Claims billed with overlapping dates of service will be denied, and the provider will need to resubmit the claims. Please direct any questions to your assigned Claims Specialist or call the Claims and Reimbursement department at 1-800-893-6246, ext. 2455.

Extension of Deadline for Retroactive Authorization Request Submission Vaya has extended the period for retroactive service authorization requests (SARs) for providers serving members in the nine counties transitioning to Vaya from Cardinal Innovations. These providers may submit SARs for retroactive authorization on or before Feb. 15, 2022. The previous submission deadline was Jan. 16, 2022. Please direct any questions to Vaya’s Utilization Management team at UM@vayahealth.com or 1800-893-6246, ext. 1513.

COVID-19 NEWS AND UPDATES NCDHHS COVID-19 Updates Fireside Chat Today, Jan. 20, 2022, 6 – 7 p.m. NCDHHS will host a live fireside chat and virtual town hall to discuss COVID-19 vaccines, boosters, testing, and more. Key topics include: The recent surge in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations Steps to protect yourself and your household by masking, testing, and more New guidance on vaccines and boosters for children ages 5 and older, teenagers, and adults When to isolate or quarantine and how the two differ NCDHHS will host the livestream event on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
