Q&A Webinar for Vaya Health Network Providers Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Q&A Webinars for Vaya Network Providers take place every two weeks and are an important source of the most up-to-date information. Registration is not required. All Vaya network providers are encouraged to join. Next Friday’s topics include: Tailored Care Management, COVID-19-related flexibilities and rate increase extensions, vaccine updates and more. Vaya Health Provider Advisory Council Monthly Meeting Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. All Vaya network providers are encouraged to attend and participate in the monthly Provider Advisory Council (PAC) meetings. The PAC serves as an advisory body to Vaya on provider-related issues. The PAC operates pursuant to a set of bylaws and is a self-governing committee. Members of the PAC serve as fair and impartial representatives of all network providers for the purpose of advocacy, support and communication. The PAC is designed to facilitate an open exchange of ideas, shared values, goals and visions and to bring forward concerns and solutions while promoting collaboration, ethical operations, mutual accountability and quality services. COVID-19 NEWS AND UPDATES Group 3 Vaccinations: N.C. DHHS Guidance N.C. DHHS has announced plans for how it will begin administering Group 3 vaccinations for anyone working in childcare or pre-K–Grade 12 schools starting Feb. 24. DHHS will be sharing more information in the coming week about how childcare and school staff can access the vaccines. Currently eligible groups are health care workers, long-term care staff and residents and people 65 and older, who will continue to be prioritized. DHHS plans to begin vaccinating additional frontline essential workers on March 10. TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES Optimizing Care for Adults with IDD: Creating Communities of Belonging Feb. 18 - 19, 2021 Sponsored by Southern Regional AHEC, this conference highlights collaborative care initiatives and invites providers to create spaces of belonging that embrace equity. The conference provides clinical updates that equip providers across disciplines to advance the health and wellbeing for adults with IDD. Learn more and register here .
Mental Health Aspects of IDD Professional Development Series Feb. 25 – May 6, 2021 This six-session course, presented by the Center for START Services, gives Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) the knowledge, skills and resources needed to provide individuals with IDD and mental health service needs (IDD-MH) positive, person-centered, strengths and wellness-based supports and services. System of Care: Child and Family Team Part 1 Training March 1 - 2, 2021, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. This training provides parents, caregivers and professionals an overview of Child and Family Team meetings from the family’s perspective and teaches strategies and facilitation skills to support children, youth and families. All participants must have video and audio access and must keep their cameras turned on during the training. You must attend both days to receive credit for the training. Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid Multiple dates through December 2021 Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis. Both Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid (for adults working with youth) are a combination of self-paced virtual and instructor-led virtual. QPR Suicide Prevention Web-Based Training Multiple dates through July 2021 Two hours of your time could help save a life. Vaya's Provider and Community Education Team will offer free, web-based “Question, Persuade, Refer” (QPR) suicide prevention trainings through July 2021. Trainings will be offered on the second Tuesday (9 – 11 a.m.) and fourth Tuesday (2:30 – 4:30 p.m.) of each month. Each training is limited to 30 participants.
