COVID-19 NEWS AND UPDATES Higher-Risk People in Group 4 Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine Starting March 17 Beginning tomorrow, March 17, 2021, people in North Carolina’s vaccination priority Group 4 who have a medical condition that puts them at higher risk of severe COVID-19 illness will be eligible for vaccination. Also, anyone who is living in higher-risk congregate or close group living settings who is not already vaccinated will be eligible on March 17. The rest of Group 4, which includes other essential workers, will become eligible April 7. Previously eligible groups – health care workers, long-term care staff and residents, people 65 and older and frontline essential workers – will continue to be prioritized. Webinar: Historical and Contemporary Racism March 26, 2021, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. This initiative, sponsored by Wilson and Edgecombe counties through an award from the North Carolina Trauma-Informed Communities Cohort III Initiative, promotes a sense of dedication among communities to recognize how historical trauma and racial inequity and/or implicit bias impact communities.
