WIC Fraud Alert The North Carolina Attorney General's Office is warning consumers to be aware of scams involving the recent Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recall of powdered infant formulas. Participants in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and parents have been targeted by impersonators going door-to-door, offering to pick up recalled formula, only to return the product to the store and collect a refund. NC Attorney General Josh Stein has advised WIC participants and parents not to trust people at their door claiming to be from the WIC program. No one from the state or the WIC program is going doorto-door to collect formula cans. WIC participants and parents who believe they have been the victim of a scam should call the Attorney General’s Office at 877-5-NO-SCAM or file a complaint online at https://ncdoj.gov/file-a-complaint/.
