Q&A Webinars for Vaya Health Network Providers Video recordings of the three most recent Q&A Webinars for Vaya Network Providers are available on the Vaya website. Recordings are posted for webinars on July 10, July 24 and Aug. 4, 2020.

Virtual Youth Exposition Sept. 19, 2020, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Healthy Transitions and the N.C. Collaborative for Youth and Families, in partnership with Vaya Health and Partners Behavioral Health, will host a Virtual Youth Exposition aimed at empowering youth through education on topics that range from cultural responsiveness to self-advocacy, as well as providing them with tools for success through workshops tailored to their needs. This is not only a free event, but also a paid opportunity for youths and young adults ages 16-24 living in Vaya’s catchment area that offers speakers, resources, youth engagement and more. Participants will receive $50 upon completion, funded and paid by the Healthy Transitions Initiative, through NC Families United. Registration is required. Day Program and Employment Services: Re-opening Support, Guidelines and Resources for States The National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDDS) has released guidance for state intellectual and/or developmental disability (IDD) agencies as states prepare to re-open day program and employment services for individuals with an IDD. The guidance includes operational considerations for state agencies, providers and individuals. Additionally, it focuses not only on safely returning to practices suspended by the pandemic, but also finding new possibilities for improvement of home- and community-based services (HCBS) systems.

White Paper: “The Future of Clinical Service Delivery is not Either/Or” Netsmart and Open Minds have released a new white paper, “The Future of Clinical Service Delivery is not Either/Or”, which looks at the changing human services market in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper is available for download on the Netsmart website.

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) – Suicide Prevention Web-Based Training Multiple dates through December 2020 Vaya's Provider and Community Education Team will offer free, web-based “Question, Persuade, Refer” (QPR) suicide prevention trainings through December 2020. Trainings will be offered on the second Tuesday (2:30 – 4:30 p.m.) and fourth Tuesday (9 – 11 a.m.) of each month. Each training is limited to 30 participants. Webinars Hosted by the National Council for Behavioral Health Trauma-informed, Resilience-oriented Crisis Navigation Aug. 18, 2020, 2 – 3 p.m. Learn how to intentionally design and maintain healing environments that empower and resist retraumatizing individuals who have experienced trauma. Oral Health and Behavioral Health: Models of Coordinated and Integrated Care Aug. 19, 2020, 3 – 4 p.m. Oral health and behavioral health are closely tied together. Uncoordinated oral and behavioral health care and lack of access to care can drastically exacerbate health disparities, increase healthcare costs and result in poor overall health outcomes for those most at risk. This webinar will explore emerging models of coordinated and integrated care for oral and behavioral health. Crisis Leadership and Resiliency: A Trauma-informed Approach to COVID-19 Response Aug. 20, 2020, 1 – 2 p.m. This workshop is designed to help identify public health leadership strategies to minimize the impact of anxiety on staff, as well as techniques to promote resiliency and self-care in a trauma-informed way.


Responding to the Opioid Overdose Epidemic Aug. 26, 2020, 2 – 3 p.m. This workshop will present perspectives on the opioid overdose epidemic, discuss related rises in stimulant overdoses and share strategies that can address overdose prevention, saving lives and initiating recovery.

2020 Women’s Recovery Conference: Raising Resilience through Authenticity Sept. 2 – 4, 2020 MAHEC has tailored its 2020 Women’s Recovery Conference to accommodate a virtual platform. Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Training for CST Staff Sept. 15 - 17, 2020 Vaya is collaborating with four LME/MCOs across the state to offer PSH Training for CST staff.
