Sunset of NCDHHS Post-Payment Review Process In advance of the launch of Behavioral Health and I/DD Tailored Plans on Dec. 1, 2022, Vaya will sunset the use of the Provider Monitoring Routine Post-Payment Review process mandated by NCDHHS under the current 1915 (b)/(c) Waiver. The current Routine Post-Payment Review process will end effective Aug. 31, 2022, for Vaya network providers. Vaya will ensure any required follow-up related to plans of correction and implementation reviews are completed before Dec. 1, 2022. The requirement to conduct provider monitoring activities will continue under the Tailored Plan as part of Vaya’s focused, data-driven Tailored Plan Provider Monitoring Program. The Vaya monitoring program will include post-payment reviews and feature review tools developed and/or customized by Vaya. Vaya will provide more information about the Tailored Plan Provider Monitoring Program in future Provider Communication Bulletins. LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES An Introduction to Child and Family Teams: A Credited Training from the Family’s Perspective (CFT 1) Sept. 6-7, 2022, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. This virtual training, provided by Vaya’s System of Care team, provides 11 contact hours of training related to System of Care and the Child and Family Team (CFT) process. The training gives parents, caregivers, and professionals an overview of CFT meetings from the family’s perspective and teaches strategies and facilitation skills to support children, youth, and families. The Epidemiology and Treatment of Smoking in People with Mental Illness Sept. 8, 2022, 12-1 p.m. This live webinar from the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center at University of California San Francisco will describe the epidemiology of smoking in people with mental illness, explain the three associations between smoking and mental ill-health, and identify and describe two benefits of psychological models to treat co-morbid smoking and mental illhealth. Register online.

How to Support Clients and Your Organization to Become Commercial Tobacco-Free Oct. 5, 2022, 9.a.m.-12:30 p.m. The NC Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch will offer a training on how to implement a tobacco-free campus policy and integrate tobacco use treatment in diverse program settings. Register online.

Trauma (Historical and Intergenerational) and Resiliency Oct. 5, 2022, 12-2 p.m. The Social Justice Leadership Academy (SJLA) will offer a webinar discussion about historical and intergenerational trauma and resiliency, as well as how trauma relates to social justice. The training will end with a Q&A session. Register online.

Evidence-Based Substance Use Disorder Education MAHEC is providing education and technical assistance to support health care organizations and providers with the tools they need to treat pain safely and the skills to screen and treat substance use disorders in a patient-centered, equitable, trauma-informed, and inclusive way.
