Vaya Health Provider Advisory Council – Annual Meeting Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. All Vaya network providers are invited to attend the annual business meeting of the Vaya Health Provider Advisory Council (PAC). Voting members will vote for PAC officers, and participants will set goals for the coming year and plan for PAC activities under the Tailored Plan. The PAC serves as an advisory body to Vaya on provider-related issues, operates pursuant to a set of bylaws, and is a self-governing committee. PAC members serve as fair and impartial representatives of all network providers for the purpose of advocacy, support, and communication. The PAC is designed to facilitate an open exchange of ideas, shared values, goals, and visions and to provide a platform for addressing concerns and solutions while promoting collaboration, ethical operations, mutual accountability, and quality services. Reminder: Vaya Health PAC Systemic Barriers Survey
The PAC is working to identify systemic barriers to providing quality services and to propose solutions to help providers and increase desired outcomes among members and recipients. We encourage all Vaya network providers to complete the PAC’s ongoing Systemic Barriers Survey . The survey takes approximately five minutes to complete. As needed, the PAC’s Barriers Subcommittee will convene to review patterns of concerns and proposed solutions with Vaya leadership and subject matter experts. The status and results of this process will be a standing agenda item at monthly PAC meetings. LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES Youth Mental Health First Aid Nov. 16, 2022, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The NC Youth Violence Prevention Center will sponsor a Youth Mental Health First Aid training in Asheville to teach participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adolescents ages 12-18. Services to Support Deaf and Hard of Hearing Members Oct. 21, 2022, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Vaya will partner with the NC Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DSDHH) to share information about services available for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. This virtual presentation will include information on what providers can request, what is reimbursable, and other ways to support providers, individuals, and families. The event aims to help improve NC Medicaid beneficiary and companion access to communication in health care settings. Registration is not required. Community Resiliency Model® Workshops The Foster Family Alliance and Healthy Blue will hold online workshops designed for foster care staff and foster/kinship/resource parents. Participants will learn about the internationally used, biologically based wellness skill model called the Community Resiliency Model® (CRM).
