PROVIDER TOUCHPOINT – SEPT. 23, 2022
COVID-19/PHE Rate Supplements to Sunset Please note that Vaya’s COVID-19/PHE rate supplements that took effect in March 2020 will sunset on Nov. 30, 2022. The sunsetting applies to all COVID-19/PHE rate supplements, including standard rates and any provider- or member-specific rate. The supplements will remain effective for dates of service through Nov. 30, 2022, and will be paid through our standard claims adjudication and approval processes. Although NC Medicaid has already discontinued PHE-related funding to Vaya, Vaya has extended the rate supplements through November to give providers a minimum 30 days’ notice of any significant rate changes and to better support providers and Vaya members. This change does not affect the electronic visit verification (EVV) and direct care worker (DCW) rate supplements that went into effect earlier this year. The EVV and DCW rate supplements are independent of the COVID-19/PHE rates and are incorporated into Vaya’s permanent rates. On or before Nov. 1, 2022, Vaya will publish updated rate schedules that will take effect on Dec. 1, 2022. To view current rate schedules, visit our Rate and Checkwrite Schedules webpage. Please remember to make any necessary changes to billing systems, including in HHAeXchange for all EVV services, and to bill charges at or above the posted rates to receive the full unit
reimbursement. For more information, please email provider.info@vayahealth.com.
NC Medicaid 1915(i) State Plan Amendment NC Medicaid is seeking authority from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to add 1915(i) services to the NC Medicaid State Plan. This State Plan Amendment submission is posted to the NC Medicaid website under Ten-Day Postings for Submission to CMS , with a proposed effective date of Dec. 1, 2022 to align with Tailored Plan launch. The State Plan Amendment (SPA) requests authority for the following change to the NC Medicaid State Plan: This state plan change will add services through the 1915(i) benefit. These services include Community, Transition, Respite, Supported Employment, Individual Placement Supports, Community Living and Supports, and Individual and Transitional Supports. These services will replace services currently provided under a 1915(b)(3) authority, which will end Nov. 30, 2022. These services are not available under the 1115 Demonstration Waiver, and individuals receiving these services under the (b)(3) authority would lose access to them upon Tailored Plan launch unless the 1915(i) benefit is approved. The SPA makes several services available to members with a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Individuals who experienced a TBI prior to age 22 and are on the NC Innovations Waiver waitlist (the Registry of Unmet Needs) may also benefit from 1915(i) services.
