All-LME/MCO Child Residential Provider Meeting Nov. 14, 2022, 11 a.m. On Oct. 1, 2022, Vaya and other LME/MCOs began using a new pass-through authorization process for child residential treatment as part of the NC Child and Family Improvement Initiative (NCCFII). Please review Provider Communication Bulletin 2022-23, Issue 16 (Sept. 30, 2022) for details. Partners Behavioral Health has organized a virtual NCCFII Child Residential Provider Meeting for all LME/MCOs on Nov. 14, 2022. We encourage all child residential providers to attend. Representatives from Vaya and other LME/MCOs will be present to provide an overview of the new process and answer any questions. Register in advance to receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting.
Extended: Residential and Periodic I/DD State-Funded Services NCDHHS previously communicated the termination of residential and periodic I/DD State-funded services effective Nov. 30, 2022. This termination date was applicable to all services referenced in the following NCDHHS LME/MCO Joint Communication Bulletins (JCB):
NCDHHS LME/MCO Joint Communication Bulletin #408 (March 31, 2022) NCDHHS LME/MCO Joint Communication Bulletin #417 (May 31, 2022) NCDHHS LME/MCO Joint Communication Bulletin #425 (July 19, 2022) NCDHHS has indicated that a new Joint Communication Bulletin is forthcoming that will extend this termination date. NCDHHS has not yet communicated a new termination date for these services; however, it plans to align the new termination date with the launch of Behavioral Health and I/DD Tailored Plans on April 1, 2023. Upcoming Changes to Innovations Waiver Community Navigator Services Tailored Care Management will launch on Dec. 1, 2022. Please note that due to the addition of this service, NC Innovations Waiver participants who receive provider-directed services and choose to receive Tailored Care Management will no longer be eligible to receive Community Navigator services after Nov. 30, 2022. Activities provided under Tailored Care Management include: Providing education and guidance on self-advocacy to the member, family members, and support members. Connecting the member and caregivers to education and training to help the member improve functioning, develop socialization and adaptive skills, and navigate the service system. Providing information to the member, family members, and support members about the member’s rights, protections, and responsibilities, including the right to change providers, the grievance and complaint resolution process, and fair hearing processes. Providing referral, information, and assistance and follow-up in obtaining and maintaining community-based resources and social support services. Providing comprehensive assistance securing key health-related services. Community Navigator will be available until March 31, 2023, for all Innovations Waiver participants who are not receiving Tailored Care Management. Beginning April 1, 2023, Community Navigator will be available to only those participants who self-direct their services (including those who use Agency with Choice or Employer of Record). Authorizations for Community Navigator will be lapsed on Nov. 30, 2022, for all members who choose to receive Tailored Care Management as of Dec. 1, 2022. Units will be prorated accordingly. All other authorizations for Community Navigator for individuals who opt out of Tailored Care Management will continue through March 31, 2023. Members who are affected by this change will receive letters notifying them of their options. LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES Permanent Supportive Housing Training Dec. 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2022, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. This online Vaya training will support Community Support Team (CST) and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) providers by improving their understanding and practice of the Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) model. The training is open to providers in the Vaya, Alliance Health, and Partners Health Management regions. To receive credit for the training, participants must attend all four days, have their camera on, and have audio capability. Registered participants will receive a link for the training the week before it occurs.
