PROVIDER TOUCHPOINT – DEC. 02, 2022
Update: Vaya Health Provider Portal As announced in the Provider Communication Bulletin on Oct. 6, 2022, Vaya is launching a new Provider Portal as we prepare for the Behavioral Health and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Tailored Plan launch on April 1, 2023. The Provider Portal is accessible through Vaya’s Provider Central website. What is the status of Vaya’s Provider Portal? Current active areas of the Provider Portal include User Set-up (for systems access administrators, also known as SAAs), Grievances and Complaints, Documents, and Resources. We will announce new features in the Provider Communication Bulletin as they go live. When will I begin using the Provider Portal instead of AlphaMCS? On April 1, 2023, the Provider Portal will replace AlphaMCS for submission of member and recipient information updates, authorization requests, and claims. Providers will continue using AlphaMCS until March 31, 2023. If you are new to the Vaya provider network and need access to AlphaMCS, please complete the AlphaMCS Login Request Form . How do I access the Provider Portal? The transition to the Provider Portal includes implementation of a hierarchical structure for organization logins. Each provider organization will identify one SAA within their agency. The SAA will
be responsible for managing the creation, support, and deactivation of user access to the Provider Portal for users within your organization. If you have not designated an SAA for your organization, please complete the Network Provider SAA Designation Form. Vaya issues SAA logins by email after receiving your organization’s SAA designation. How do SAAs issue logins to the staff in their organization? Once SAAs have their login, creating user accounts is a simple process. For assistance, reference the Provider Portal job aid for SAAs in the Provider Learn Portal . What should I do if I need assistance? If you are the designated SAA for your organization, email ServiceDesk@vayahealth.com or call 1800-893-6246, ext. 1500. Otherwise, contact your assigned provider network contract manager, email provider.info@vayahealth.com, or call our Provider Support Service Line at 1-866-990-9712.
Holiday Schedule Reminder: Vaya Office Closure Vaya offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24-25, 2022, for the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Our 24/7 Behavioral Health Crisis Line will remain available at 1-800-849-6127.
Memo: Non-Standard Service Authorization Request Process Updates Vaya is updating the process for submitting Non-Standard Service Authorization Requests (SARs). Effective Jan. 1, 2023, providers may submit Non-Standard SARs in the following situations only: 1. Out-of-Network (OON) requests for non-NC Innovations Waiver services. 2. Transitions of Care. For more information, please review the memo linked below: Memo: Non-Standard Service Authorization Request Process Updates (Nov. 23, 2022)
NC Medicaid Standard Plan and Tailored Plan Tobacco-Free Policy Requirements NCDHHS announced it will delay implementation of NC Medicaid Managed Care Standard Plan and Tailored Plan tobacco-free policy requirements in an updated NC Medicaid bulletin issued Nov. 4, 2022. The bulletin replaces the North Carolina Standard & Tailored Plan Tobacco-Free Policy Requirement published Jan. 25, 2022. Prior to Tailored Plan launch on April 1, 2023, NCDHHS will work with community stakeholders, Standard Plans, and Tailored Plans to revise guidance on the policy requirements. The Department expects to provide more information in spring 2023. The delay gives providers additional time to implement tobacco-free campus policies. Vaya encourages providers to take advantage of technical assistance and resources available through BreatheEasyNC.org and the BreatheEasyNC tobacco control staff assigned to your county.
