2023 Checkwrite Schedule Available The Vaya Health 2023 Checkwrite Schedule is now available on the Rate and Checkwrite Schedules page of the Provider Central website. Please note that beginning Feb. 1, 2023, Vaya will move payment effective dates from Wednesdays to Thursdays of each week. There is no change to the claims submission cutoff, with claims submitted before 5 p.m. on Tuesdays included in the following week’s checkwrite.
Tailored Care Management Provider Billing Guidance The following guidance provides an overview for providers billing Vaya for Tailored Care Management (TCM) services for dates of service between Dec. 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023. NEW: Tailored Care Management and Care Coordination Referral Form A new Vaya Tailored Care Management and Care Coordination Referral Form has been published to the Forms page of the Provider Central website. The new form replaces Vaya’s previous Complex Care Management Referral Form and reflects updated eligibility criteria and new submission instructions. Please note that Vaya will not make Tailored Care Management assignments in response to referrals until NCDHHS provides corrected assignment data. We expect to receive this data this week. In the meantime, Vaya’s Member and Recipient Services Care Coordination (MRS-CC) Team will proceed with reviewing referrals for Tailored Care Management eligibility as follows: If a member is eligible for Tailored Care Management, the MRS-CC Team will follow Vaya’s process to assign a member to a Tailored Care Management provider once we have received
the corrected assignment data from NCDHHS. If a member is not eligible for Tailored Care Management, the MRS-CC Team will send the referral to Vaya’s Care Management Department to determine if the member qualifies for care coordination. Care Management will review and assign qualified members to care coordination using the current process once Vaya receives the corrected assignment data from NCDHHS. The same form allows for referrals of State-funded services recipients to Vaya’s current care management program. The referral form will be updated again prior to the launch of the Behavioral Health and I/DD Tailored Plan on April 1, 2023, to reflect changing eligibility criteria.
Pilot Project RFA: Integrating Harm Reduction and Public Safety The National Council for Mental Wellbeing, with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), invites nonprofit organizations to apply for grant funding to support one-year pilot projects that integrate harm reduction strategies and public safety initiatives. Through a competitive Request for Application (RFA) process, up to eight sites will be selected to implement evidence-based and promising strategies through collaborative partnerships with public safety to reduce the risk of overdose and other drug-related harm for people who are or may become involved in the justice system. Selected sites may receive awards of up to $81,250 and receive and participate in training and technical assistance opportunities for the project, which begins in February 2023. LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES Joint Communication Bulletin # J440: NCDHHS PersonCentered Planning Training NCDHHS is implementing a series of five free person-centered planning trainings for providers. Person-centered planning is a collaborative planning practice that emphasizes selfdetermination and choice to help individuals reach life goals.
