Pride Month: Celebrating LGBTQI+ Culture

LGBTQI+ pride is the promotion of the self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning, intersex and other sexual and gender minorities (LGBTQI+) people as a social group. Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBT rights movements.

Upcoming Change: HHAeXchange Support Requests

• The support@hhaexchange.com email address for HHAeXchange (HHA) will sunset July 1, 2023. Moving forward, providers should make HHAeXchange support requests via HHA’s Client Support Portal (LoginJira Service Management (atlassian.net)).

• This change will not affect any other email addresses associated with HHAeXchange, including those used for North Carolina-specific communications.

Request for Proposals: “WNC After 3pm” Initiative

• Dogwood Health Trust is launching the "WNC After 3pm“initiative to increase the accessibility of out-ofschool-time experiences and better meet youth and family needs in western North Carolina.

• Alongside a landscape analysis of out-of-school time, Dogwood has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) from nonprofits, government agencies, educational institutions, and other organizations that serve the Qualla Boundary and Dogwood’s 18-county region and are interested in expanding out-of-school-time programming.

• The initiative will provide multi-year funding to entities that offer high-quality, evidence-based out-ofschool-time programming and supports for all populations, with priority on Black students, Englishlanguage learners, students learning with disabilities, and students experiencing elevated levels of poverty.

• Proposals are due online by 5 p.m. on July 24, 2023. Dogwood will host a virtual information session at 12:30 p.m. on June 20, 2023, to answer questions about the RFP. Register online.

1915(i) Updates

Reminder : Medicaid 1915(i) Authority

Updates

• As Behavioral Health and I/DD Tailored Plans will operate under North Carolina’s 1115 Demonstration Waiver, they will no longer offer home and community-based services under the 1915(b)(3) authority.

Pending federal approval, NCDHHS expects to transition from 1915(b)(3) to 1915(i) services starting July 1, 2023.

• For more information, see the NC Medicaid Managed Care Provider Playbook Fact Sheet, which includes implementation timeframe details and information for care managers. Please remember that members must have a completed independent assessment and be deemed eligible by NCDHHS to access 1915(i) services.

• In addition, please remember to submit completed assessments with the eligibility spreadsheet to 1915i@vayahealth.com by no later than the 17th of each month.

Most current NC Medicaid 1915(b)(3) home and community-based services will be offered under the 1915(i) State Plan Option upon Tailored Plan launch on Oct. 1, 2023.

Upcoming NC Innovations Waiver Processes Trainings for TCM Providers

• Vaya will present NC Innovations Waiver processes trainings on the following dates for Tailored Care Management (TCM) providers serving waiver participants:

• July 20, 2023, 9-11 a.m.: Care Management Comprehensive Assessment Requirements and Care Plan Requirements. Join online.

• July 25, 2023, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.: NC Innovations Emergency Slot Request, Invoice-Based Innovations Services, Innovations Waiver Transfer, and Innovations Waiver Slot Terminations. Join online.

• Aug. 2, 2023, 8:30-10:30 a.m.: Appendix K Flexibilities and RA Letters. Join online.

• Aug. 8, 2023, 2-4 p.m.: IFDS, RADSE, and Out-of-State Travel. Join online.

• Care managers working with Innovations Waiver participants should attend all four trainings. Vaya will make training recordings available for individuals who cannot attend and to help train future staff.
