What is so incredible? The timing of the grant is almost miraculous. Underfunded and leadership unenhanced Christian congregations are struggling more than ever right now with how to best carry forward their ministries.
Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary has received a five-year, $1 million grant from Lilly
Endowment Inc. to help establish the Nehemiah Project: Strengthening Historic African American Congregations.
An expected outcome is that the 13 congregations already selected to participate will, with God’s help: Assess their ministriesand their communities, theneffectively address new challenges and better nurture the spiritual vitality of the people they serve. The outcome can serve as a model for other congregations and ministries to follow.
