Dr. Mark Packard

Associate Professor and Director of Research

Dr. Packard started his professional career as a computer engineer before returning to school at the University of Missouri to earn his Ph.D. in business administration with a research emphasis in entrepreneurship.

Prior to joining FAU, he was a junior faculty member at the University of Nevada, Reno’s School of Business for six years, where he was regularly honored as one of the most successful researchers. His research, on the theory of entrepreneurship and its various subprocesses – including empathy, innovation, and judgment – has appeared in many of the world’s most prestigious management and entrepreneurship journals, including the Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, and the Journal of Business Venturing.

He recently published a new book, Entrepreneurial Valuation, which is a distillation of much of his research for a practitioner audience. He also co-founded Praxeo Consulting, which offers research-based services for improving strategic innovation and pivots.

He is a family man, with a wife and four young children at home, and enjoys playing sports in his free time.
