FA Q s Question: Is the program offered online? Answer: The program is available both on campus or can be taken online. Question: Can the program be taken part-time? Answer: Yes, the online program is available to be taken part-time. Question: How long does the program usually take? Answer: The program length depends on how many courses you take each semester as well as if you have completed the four foundation courses. On average the program takes students 23 months to complete. Question: What is the job placement after completion of the MBA Sport? Answer: 70% of our alumni are working in full-time permanent positions in the sport or entertainment industry. We do not guarantee job placement upon completion of the program. Question: Why is it important to choose a program that is AACSB accredited? Answer: Only the top business schools in America have this accreditation. It signifies that a student has completed a thorough, contemporary and stringent MBA course of study. It will also prepare the student for work opportunities outside of the sport and entertainment industry. Alumni of MBA Sport who have had to leave sport-industry jobs have quickly found executive positions outside of the sports industry thanks to their holding an AACSB-accredited MBA. Question: Working while taking classes? Answer: On-campus and online MBA Sport students are required to take advantage of sport industry related opportunities. With our on-campus classes taking place in the evening, this gives our students the chance to work full time in the sport field of their choosing. Also, our online courses are taken asynchronously, providing a flexible schedule as well. Question: How and when is the admissions interview conducted? Answer: All interviews for the on-campus or online iteration of the program can be conducted in-person or virtually. Question: Will the MBA in Sport Management prepare me for a career in sports medicine? Answer: The MBA Sport contains only business-oriented curriculum. Our curriculum is not designed for those desiring careers in physical education, exercise science, or sport medicine. Question: Can students who obtain a full-time job outside of Florida prior to graduation complete the program online? Answer: Yes! Students will be allowed to transition to the online iteration of the program (subject to approval of the program director). Dan is passionate about guiding FAU students as they prepare to launch into their careers in the sport business world. Alumni Spotlight: Lisa-Anne Higgins Director of Athletics Development Florida Atlantic University
Lisa-Anne Higgins, a 2022 alumnus, currently works as the Director of Athletics Development for Florida Atlantic University. She oversees the stewardship and event coordination for the Paradise Club, works closely with Athletics coaches and Development staff on sport specific giving, and manage a portfolio of donors for FAU Athletics. Lisa-Anne also assisted with the first ever 2023-24 Men's Basketball season ticket sellout, built out updated sports specific giving brochures, and was on the team that raised 12 six and seven-figure gifts since 2021 The MBA Sport program truly launched my career in college athletics. The relationships I have formed with my peers, the faculty, and alumni of this program have been influential in growing professionally and as an individual. The curriculum and coursework gave me a well-rounded understanding of my on-the-job tasks and were crucial elements to having success in college athletics administration. Dr. Riordan's vision for this program has opened countless doors for me and continues to do so.
