Just the opportunity to be with horses and become a part of their world, throws us right into boots and leads to the barn with desire to hop in the saddle. With a clatter of their hooves and the heat of their breath we enter a magical world that we knew as children, at least in our imagination. We met some 14 000 years ago and to this day the bond between us has not diminished. Despite their seemingly indifferent nature, these gentle giants feel deeply. If we spend enough time with them, we find out how much there is in their beautiful eyes. History of BiH Called Illyricum in ancient times, the area now called Bosnia and Herzegovina was conquered by the Romans in the 2nd and 1st centuries B.C. and folded into the Roman province of Dalmatia. In the 4th and 5th centuries A.D., Goths overran that portion of the declining Roman Empire and occupied the area until the 6th century, when the Byzantine Empire claimed it. Slavs began settling the region during the 7th century. Around 1200, Bosnia won independence from Hungary and endured as an independent Christian state for some 260 years. The expansion of the Ottoman Empire into the Balkans introduced another cultural, political, and religious framework. The Turks defeated the Serbs at the famous battle of Kosovo in 1389. They conquered Bosnia in 1463. During the roughly 450 years Bosnia and Herzegovina was under Ottoman rule, many Christian Slavs became Muslim. A Bosnian Islamic elite gradually developed and ruled the country on behalf of the Turkish overlords. As the borders of the Ottoman Empire began to shrink in the

Mostar old bridge Stari Most (English: Old Bridge) is a 16th-century Ottoman bridge in the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina that crosses the river Neretva and connects the two parts of the city. The Old Bridge stood for 427 years, until it was destroyed on 9 November 1993 by Croat forces during the Croat–Bosniak War. Subsequently, a project was set in motion to reconstruct it, and the rebuilt bridge opened on 23 July 2004. One of the country's most recognizable landmarks, it is considered an exemplary piece of Balkan Islamic architecture. It was designed by Mimar Hayruddin, a student and apprentice of the famous architect Mimar Sinan. The original bridge was commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1557 to replace an older wooden suspension bridge of dubious stability. Construction began in 1557 and took nine years.

Blagaj, Buna tekee Blagaj is a village-town in the south-eastern region of the Mostar basin, in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It stands at the edge of Biťće plain and is one of the most valuable mixed urban and rural structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, distinguished from other similar structures in its urban layout. Blagaj was most likely named for its mild weather patterns since "blaga" in Serbo-Croatian means "mild". Blagaj is situated at the spring of the Buna river and a historical tekke (tekija or Dervish monastery). The Blagaj Tekija was built around 1520, with elements of Ottoman architecture and Mediterranean style and is considered a national monument. Blagaj Tekke is a monastery built for the Dervish cults.

Visegrad bridge The Višegrad Bridge was commissioned by Grand Vizier Mehmed Paša Sokolović, who exercised power over a long period at the summit of the Ottoman Empire during the reign of three sultans as a tribute to his native region and a symbol of trade and prosperity. Construction of the bridge took place between 1571 and 1577. Major renovations of the bridge have taken place in 1664, 1875, 1911, 1940 and 1950–52. Three of its 11 arches were destroyed during World War I and five were damaged during World War II but subsequently restored. During the 1992–95 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, hundreds of Bosniaks were killed on the bridge by Bosnian Serb militias. The bridge received UNESCO World Heritage Listing in 2007.

7

Srebrenica The Srebrenica massacre, also known as the Srebrenica genocide (Bosnian: Masakar u Srebrenici; Genocid u Srebrenici), was the July 1995 genocide of more than 8,000 Muslim Bosniaks, mainly men and boys, in and around the town of Srebrenica during the Bosnian War.

The killings were perpetrated by units of the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) under the command of General Ratko Mladić. The Scorpions, a paramilitary unit from Serbia, who had been part of the Serbian Interior Ministry until 1991, also participated in the massacre. In April 1993 the United Nations (UN) had declared the besieged enclave of Srebrenica—in the Drina Valley of northeastern Bosnia—a "safe area" under UN protection. However, in July 1995, UNPROFOR's 370 Dutchbat soldiers in Srebrenica failed to prevent the town's capture by the VRS—and the subsequent massacre.

Jajce Jajce was first built in the 14th century and served as the capital of the independent Kingdom of Bosnia during its time. The town has gates as fortifications, as well as a castle with walls which lead to the various gates around the town. About 10–20 kilometres from Jajce lies the Komotin Castle and town area which is older but smaller than Jajce. It is believed the town of Jajce was previously Komotin but was moved after the Black Death. The first references to the name of Jajce in written sources is from the year 1396, but the fortress had already existed by then. Jajce was the residence of the last Bosnian king Stjepan Tomasevic; the Ottomans besieged the town and executed him, but held it only for six months, before the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus seized it at the siege of Jajce and established the Banovina of Jajce.

Perucica Perucica in Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the last rainforests in Europe. It is located in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the National Park Sutjeska. The Perućica forest reserve was established in 1952, as "Natural reserve for scientific and educational purposes". It is one of the rarely preserved rainforests of Europe and one of the last two remaining primeval forests on the Old Continent. It is a UNESCO recognized site. The forest has many trees that are over 300 years old and the primeval forest's vintage is stated to be 20,000 years. In some stretches, the forest is almost impregnable.

Bijambare caves Bijambare Nature Park is situated near the small town Olovo, only 40 minutes from the capital city Sarajevo. The middle part of Bijambare is a karst enclave with all its commonly observed characteristics: caves, lost rivers, intriguing funnel-shaped depressions and rocky massifs. There are five caves located in three horizons, in a pretty small area. One of these caves is especially popular- the Bijambare cave, which has been a popular tourist spot and a speleological site for a long

time. The cave is 420 m long (basic direction without individual branches), with four halls with rich ornaments of all known creation forms: lateral blocks, stalactites, casts, stalagmites and curtains. The fourth hall is the biggest (around 60 m in diameter and 15–30 m in height). It is also called the "music hall" for its acoustic effects. The temperature in this hall is a constant 5 degrees. There are 10 different species of fauna. As it is situated at 950m above sea level, and well away from urban areas, the air quality is nothing short of excellent. Besides the caves, there are several marked walking paths, meadows, forest, a small lake, two waterfalls, picnic areas, a playground for children, and during a specific season the visitors can pick mushrooms and medical herbs.

Prokosko lake ProkoĹĄko Lake is a glacial lake in close to 1660 meters above sea level and it is located on the mountain Vranica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lake is characterized by endemic species of human fish. The lake is surrounded by cattle huts and summer pastures and represents part of untouched nature. The lake is rich in trout and known habitat of rare species of aquatic lizards Triton. By the lake there are closely pressed livestock huts, where you can relax and get real homemade local specialties (sheep cheese, cream, pie, bread under the bell, blueberries and blackberries in season, etc.).
