Agenda of South-South integration is more relevant than ever Haitian President Alexandre Petion, a turning point for Venezuela to embark on the fulfillment of its purpose of freeing the country from the Spanish yoke.

Istúriz vice president leads the round table discussion the reality of the african, american and caribbean relations, in which he highlighted the contributions by the commander hugo chávez.

The executive vice president Aristobulo Isturiz stressed yesterday that the agenda for South-South integration, proposed by Commander Hugo Chávez, remains in force. During his participation in the round table discussion the Reality of the African, American and the Caribbean relations, that was held in the Centre of African, American and Caribbean Knowledge, recently inaugurated in Caracas, Isturiz recalled that President Chávez presented various proposals to strengthen the integration of the South, the Vice President highlighted in a press release. "Chavez developed a bilateral agenda with the governments of Africa and proposed the South-South cooperation. The first step was to launch Telesur, to promote a lifelong communication and Petrosur as an economic entity to attend to gas, oil and mining issues. Then the idea of the Bank of the South was born, as a new financial architecture to unite the regions." Isturiz reiterated that the project of the agenda for integration still remains in force, and promised to present to President Nicolás Maduro the proposal made by the Ecuadorian Ambassador in Venezuela, Rafael Quintero, to increase the participation of countries in the ASA Summit (South America-Africa Cooperation), which will be held in the next month of May in Quito. "Our countries have very little economic integration (with Africa)," said Quintero during his participation in the activity, while noting that the integration of the countries that make up the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and other nations of Africa is necessary, to address the economic situation that the region is currently suffering. Quintero recalled that during the first year of the preparation of the ASA summit the economic integration projects presented on this occasion were not enough, as a result of which he expressed the need to propose the participation of more countries in the Caribbean and South America at the summit this year, with a view to generate more proposals for productive development. In the ASA Summit, 55 countries from Africa and 12 from South America will participate. The idea is to promote balanced relations with the integration of the Caribbean, Central America, South America and Africa. CONTRIBUTIONS OF HAITI During the roundtable discussion, Isturiz highlighted the contributions made by Haiti to forge the independence of the South American continent. "Venezuela owes a lot to Haiti. We owe much to the Caribbean, the African Caribbean and we owe a lot to Africa," he said. In this regard, he said that relations with the Caribbean countries date back to 200 years ago when the Liberator Simon Bolivar received from the

Isturiz said that these relations were interrupted at different historical moments of Venezuela, especially during the Fourth Republic, a period in which the international policy of Venezuela responded to the interests of the United States, until the arrival of Commander Hugo Chavez, driven by Bolivarian ideals, decided to restore brotherly relations with Africa and the Caribbean. "It was with Chavez that we started to connect with the rest of the countries, it was him who said: Our north is the south ' " he added. Also, Isturiz remembered that Commander Hugo Chavez always fought against inequality and racism, and assured that his legacy still lives on, after considering it necessary to take seriously, the struggle for diversity as a fundamental value for there to be equality. "We must embrace diversity because we will only be equal when everyone will assume in there consciousness that we are diverse, while there are stereotypes that attempt to impose a single thought and diversity is not assumed, there will be always a struggle for equality and social justice" said the vice president. In this regard, the Minister for Culture, Freddy Ñáñez, made a call to build a multiple and intercultural identity as a mechanism to stop fascism in the world. "We must fight symbolically, ethically and culturally against a world that recedes fatally towards racism," he said. Ñáñez appreciated this new space for the debate as an opportunity to break "the curse of the unipolar world where the capital decided our comprehensive, economic, social, and human development. The great challenge remains multiculturalism. We have to go hand in hand to meet them all as much as to stop fascism in the world, “he said, as he urged to continue working in a joint manner between fraternal people to achieve this goal. SUPPORT FOR VENEZUELA The Ambassador of Egypt, Khaled Ezzat Omram, thanked Venezuela’s political support and recalled that Commander Hugo Chavez enhanced the value of South-South Cooperation, achieving diplomatic presence in all African countries. The timing was propitious for Ezzat Omram to congratulate Venezuela and extend his words to President Nicolas Maduro in the third anniversary of his government. "We wish you the best of successes and that we all be part of the advance in order to strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity between Venezuela and Africa," he said.
