United Nations recognized measures taken by Venezuela in guaranteeing Human Rights
Inside This Issue
On Tuesday 4th of March 2017, the Executive Secretary of the Human Rights Council Larry Devoe, said that the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the United Nations has recognized the actions of the State of Venezuela in guaranteeing Human Rights of all Venezuelan citizens. "Venezuela accepted 193 recommendations which is about 70% of that , the rest seek to continue, maintain or intensify means that the country adopts on the matter. There is a direct recognition from the United Nations to Venezuela for taking successful measures in order to guarantee the Human Rights of all," he said. Mr. Larry Devoe said that the issue of human rights is used as a political instrument with the purpose of justifying attacks on democratic institutions. "The reality is that Venezuela has successfully completed the Universal Periodic Review, which is the mechanism established by the United Nations in evaluating equality, which is also the exercise that has managed to minimize the political use of human rights," he emphasized.

He also pointed out that the UPR acknowledged the policies and plans that Venezuela has implemented in the field of human rights, as well as congratulated "the model that strengthened the guarantee of human rights, social care of the citizens and that made it possible to take the country out of the dramatic landscape which it received in 1998 ". Devoe emphasized that they welcomed the decision of President Nicolás Maduro to create the National Plan for Human Rights, which made public the policy on human rights, as well as the construction process through a broad and participatory consultation. www.mre.gob.ve

BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA MINISTRY OF PEOPLE’S POWER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMUNIQUÉ The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the unilateral attack, contrary to the Charter of the United Nations and International Law, perpetrated by the United States of North America against the Syrian Arab Republic, through the launch of missiles to the Syrian Air Force base Shairat Ash, in the province of Homs, on 5th of April 2017. Venezuela stresses that neither the Organization of the United Nations (UN) or the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) have reported the results of their researches on the chemical weapons incident, which occurred on 4 April, which resulted in a tragic balance of 86 dead and dozens of injured. The Venezuelan Government condemns the production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons by any country, person or entity, in any part of the world, whatever the circumstances and the reasons. We are deeply concerned that imperial factors justify and legitimize military interventions endorsing actions perpetrated by terrorist and extremist groups to the Syrian Government through false positives. This attack has enabled, in addition, the recomposition logistics to terrorist groups, which then attacked the Syrian National Army. The American attack on the Syrian Arab Republic is an act of aggression against the sovereignty of this country and violent the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, such as the Principle of territorial integrity, of the Self-determination of People, Non-interference in the Internal Affairs of States, and Sovereign Equality. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates the deep ties of friendship that unite with the sister nation, Syrian Arab Republic, a member of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (NAM), and reaffirms its commitment to all the political and diplomatic efforts in the interest of peace in Syria, while respecting its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. Look in the Mirror By: Ambassador Rafael RamĂrez CarreĂąo, Venezuelan Representative to the UN The Security Council is the other mirror of the world. From there we had the opportunity to raise our voice against the war, foreign intervention, military intervention and occupation. Against the power, violence and aggressiveness of three of the permanent members: the United States, the United Kingdom and France, who seek to impose their political agendas and their interests. The most worst thing is that there is a script: the identification of a target, either the oil, the economic reserves, geopolitical or ideological reasons. All this is perfectly articulated, the big media and the big chains start a media campaign against other countries and their leaders. Afterwards any of these "P3", so-called countries introduce the topic as the agenda of the Security Council. From that moment the whole system of interference is activated, the media campaign starts and the issue is then pushed to international levels in order to prepare the ground for aggression. The propaganda is then generated with dubious sources. statements by spokesmen politically motivated follow, even from the United Nations . The country "target" is then put under keen observations by the Security Council. There is double standard because while they are very active against their "objectives", they kept silent in situations such as the occupation of Palestine by Israel, the occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco or the war and humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Sometimes, some of these countries decide to act outside the Security Council and carry out invasions and interventions without anyone being able to do anything about it.
VENEZUELA
Examples of this action are many, just remember Iraq with more than a million dead and Libya a country fractured, without institutions in the hands of extremists; Syria, more than 300 thousand deaths from war and violence by extremist groups funded and presented as "moderate opposition" by the same "P3", from the Security Council. They advocate for respect of human rights, while openly they called for the overthrow of the Syrian government. All these countries are affected by the phenomenon of terrorism, by the horror of these groups that have all kinds of heavy weapons and military vehicles whose origin no one answers when we asked again and again in the Security Council. At the same time of writing these, the United States, illegally and unilaterally had bombed an air base in Syria while the media insists in their campaign against the country, showing images of violent opposition in the streets of Caracas and the most renowned leaders clamoring for foreign intervention in the country. www.aporrea.org 09/04/2017

Kenyan Scientists Discover 20 Plants to Cure Cancer
Moringa oleifera or drumstick tree.
Locally Available Medicine Most of the plants used in the findings are widely used by local herbalists for various medicinal purposes, including the treatment of cancer. According to Sabina Wangui Wachira of KEMRI, more than 60 percent of anti-cancer agents that are currently being used in Kenyan hospitals are derived from natural resources. She and her team from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology were involved in studying the effectiveness of three local plants in fighting various types of cancers.

A group of Kenyan scientists has discovered more than 20 different local plants that can be used to cure some of the most common types of cancers in Kenya. The team, which is comprised of researchers from various local universities and officials from the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), presented its findings Monday during the ongoing three-day annual scientific conference organized by the institute.
One of the plants they investigated was the popular red stinkwood (Prunus Africana), which has been used internationally for the treatment of prostate cancer. Wachira’s team wanted to check the efficacy of the tree’s bark in treating breast cancer.
More than 30 researchers attending the conference supported the findings that Kenya has the needed capacity to win the war against cancer using its vast plant resources, reports the Standard.“We could learn from the Chinese who are doing a lot of clinical and other scientific work on their herbal medicines while concurrently using them in their hospitals,” said Julius Wanjohi Mwangi, a professor of Pharmacognosy (the study of medicine derived from natural sources) at the University of Nairobi.
“We found extracts from the bark highly effective against breast cancer cell lines, explaining why many communities use it as a medicine,” Wachira stated. They also tested the local confetti and pepper wood plants, which they said presented little activity against breast cancer but were highly effective in suppressing the cell lines of colon cancer. Another team of researchers led by Crispus M. Ngule said they found tamarind fruit and pearl millet to be highly effective against prostate, cervical, and breast cancers. www.ace2faceafrica.com 5
