Moscow: Stop attacks against Venezuela

Russia denounced the external factors fueling violence in Venezuela and that they should be aware of what already happened in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Ukraine.

Russia denounced the destructive role that external forces are using against Venezuela. The Russian Foreign Ministry, in a statement, warned that these factors foment public disobedience, with external ‘social engineering’. Russia has warned these disruptive foci that they should pay more attention to results of its actions in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Ukraine. The Kremlin asked these external agents if they intend to repeat the killings that their actions caused in the intervened countries. He reiterated that the problems of Venezuelans must be solved between The Venezuelans. This month, brutal attacks were activated in 18 of them 24 regions that make up the country. The Public Ministry confirmed the deaths of 29 Venezuelans, including five minors. Armed groups of the extreme right maintain selective attacks that, for now, total more than 100 billion bolivars in material losses. These groups said they will remain in The Street, until installing a de facto government in Miraflores.

Until Tuesday's attacks, almost 500 people had been injured. Several former presidents declared the need to dialogue in the country. Caracas summoned the the events to be debated in the CELAC.

Venezuela formalizes exit from the OAS Venezuela formally began its withdrawal from the Organization of American States, as confirmed by the Minister for External Affairs Delcy RodrĂ­guez. The withdrawal process, with a maximum of 24 months, was initiated after the Organization supported a coup against NicolĂĄs Maduro. The Minister informed that during the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the CELAC, Venezuela will be confirming the names of the countries that are part of the accompaniment of the dialogue in the South American Nation. The meeting is scheduled for the 2nd of May 2017, in El Salvador, which has the pro-tempore presidency of that Organization. www.mre.gob.ve

Al Assad: They are using the same Syrian script against Venezuela In Venezuela, the same tactics of war that were carried out at the beginning of the military intervention in Syria are being applied today, Syrian President Bashard al Assad said. If the plan is one and the executor is the same, it is normal that the scenarios, between Syria and Venezuela, not only resemble, but are identical, warned Assad in an interview with Telesur. At first, demonstrations in Syria were peaceful, but seeing that they did not spread, they interfered and said that the government was killing people, Assad recalled that more than 230,000 people have died in Syria since that intervention that began 5 years ago. www.telesurtv.net

INTERNATIONAL ATTACKS AGAINST VENEZUELA

The US already speaks of a successor for President Nicolรกs Maduro The United States announced that President Nicolas Maduro's successor will have the final decision on Venezuela's withdrawal from the OAS. US State Department spokesman Mark Toner said that the statements issued by Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez have no effect. The Venezuelan decision to withdraw from the OAS will not take effect until after the end of President Maduro's term, the State Department spokesman said. Washington confirmed that the current presidential term is in force until February 2019, according to the Venezuelan Constitution. www.eluniversal.com

European Parliament urges for an intervention in Venezuela European Union for foreign policy, according to the information disseminated.

The European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for measures to be taken in order to restore full democracy in Venezuela. The resolution was supported by 450 votes in favor, 35 against and 100 abstentions. The request to evaluate interventionist measures in the country was referred to the High Representative of the

Caracas called the document "dangerously interventionist" and warned that it is plagued with lies. The European Parliament also defended a group of activists, opponents of the government of Nicolรกs Maduro, who serve sentences for several common crimes, including a set of selective murders. They accuses the Venezuelan government of not respecting Human Rights, nor Due process. The Parliament called for a general election to be held. www.europarl.europa.eu

P&O Ports inks concession to develop $336m port in Somalia

P&O Ports has signed a 30-year concession for the management and development of a multi-purpose port project at Bosasso in the Puntland State of Somalia. A total of $336m will be invested, divided into two phases: $136m for the first phase and $200m for phase two. The port will be located in Puntland an autonomous state within Somalia, which has been facing civil conflict since the early 1990's. President of Puntland, H.E. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali and the chairman of Ports, Customs & Free zone Corporation (PCFC), Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem signed the agreement at a ceremony in Dubai in the presence of senior Government officials and representatives of PCFC. Work on the project will involve building a 450m platform and a five hectare back up area, dredging to a depth of 12m with reclamation work using dredge spoil. There will also be major investment in IT and terminal operating system, mobile harbor cranes and container handling equipment.

President H.E. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, said: “Infrastructure development is a priority for the government of Puntland as it underpins the efforts of taking this country forward.” This concession agreement of expanding the Bosasso port is a major achievement for my government and for the people of Puntland PCFC chairman, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, said: “The Port of Bosaso is a unique opportunity to enter into a multi-purpose port that is transitioning to containerization in a country that is growing strongly as it enters a period of sustained peace.” “It fits ideally into P&O Port’s mandate to invest in multipurpose ports in emerging markets, employing local people and developing skills. In return, the state of Puntland will benefit from an internationally recognized port operator contributing to its economic growth and trade potential”. The Port of Bosaso is located in Puntland State of Somalia, 2,000 km north of Mogadishu. The deal comes as Somalia is struggling to get to grips with a number of new piracy attacks causing concerns in the shipping industry of resurgence in the scourge which reached critical levels between 2008 and 2012. www.seatrade-maritime.com
