President Maduro calls for national unity to defeat territorial provocation financed by transnational Exxon Mobil, which responds to imperial interests using as an excuse the territorial dispute Venezuela has with Guyana.
Caracas, 09 Jul. AVN.Faced with "the historical claim over Essequibo territory" unity must prevail in Venezuela as well as "the right to peace and the right to respect international rights," Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro said on Wednesday. In this regard, he welcomed the support from the Venezuelan people, workers, peasants, fishermen, and men and women of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) and public authorities, whose patriotic affection has prevailed against this new phase of the campaign of aggressions
During an interview with Telesur network in Caracas, he also indicated that some sectors of the Venezuelan opposition have also joined this call for unity for the territorial rights of Venezuela, putting political differences aside. "There have been political sectors, some deputies from different parties: Accion Democratica, Un Nuevo Tiempo, Primero Justicia, who have backed (Venezuela's stance)," he said, while regretting that some of those backups have been made with some unfair critiques. "The situation forces us to be united to achieve Venezuela's legitimate right and to dispel these provocations, to defeat them morally and politically," stressed the Venezuelan president. He also rejected that while these sectors join the national sentiment, there are others who are unaware of Venezuela's historically valid claims and with their stateless behavior, represent foreign and imperial interests, as happened in the past, even during the time of Venezuela's struggle for independence. www.avn.info.ve
