Venezuela cuts relations with the U.S over coup support Maduro cut relations with the U.S. and says that envoys of the countries who have stopped recognizing him as elected president have 72 hours to leave the country. President Nicolas Maduro announced that he was cutting all diplomatic relations with the United States after U.S. President Donald Trump recognized lawmaker Juan Gauido as interim president, after the opposition lawmaker illegally self-appointed himself as president of the country, breaking the constitution. "They went too far. I have decided to break all diplomatic and political relations with the imperialist government of the United States. Out! They can all leave," Maduro said as he gave a speech from the presidential palace in Caracas. "They aim to rule Venezuela from Washington." President Nicolas Maduro gave a 72-hour deadline to the U.S. representatives in Venezuela to leave the South American sovereign nation, after their President Donald Trump, backed the coup d'etat attempt led by Guaido.

"Venezuela is respected! Neither coup nor interventionism. Venezuela wants peace, wants progress," said President Nicolas Maduro rejecting any coup and interventionist attempts in the country. The governments of Mexico, Bolivia, Turkey and Rusia have stated that they recognize Bolivarian President Nicolas Maduro Moros as the constitutional and democratically elected president of Venezuela. "Don't trust the gringo empire. That's what drives their interest - the desire for Venezuelan oil, gas, and gold. These do not belong to you, they belong to the sovereign people of Venezuela," warned President Maduro to the Venezuelan people. The left-wing parties in Chile have heavily criticized the decision taken by President Sebastian PiĂąeara of recognizing the illegally self-appointed "president" Juan Guaido. According to Jaime Naranjo, a lawmaker for the Socialist Party of Chile, the decision of PiĂąera is like trying to "put out a fire with gas."
"It seems to me that it is an absolute and absurd diplomatic imprudence. You can not recognize a government when it has in our own country, recognizing another government with an installed ambassador (...) The decision taken by the (Chilean) Government does not help the Venezuelan democratic process at all," stated Naranjo.
According to Alberto Garzon, coordinator of the United Left and militant of the Communist Party of Spain "There has just been a coup in Venezuela by the Venezuelan right-wing under the protection of the U.S. government. A regrettable classic." According to him, this has been gestating for several years, and it has not been the first coup backed by the U.S.
"US Vice President openly calls for regime change in #Venezuela. So-called "rules-based order" promoted by West is nothing more than "fig leaf" of meddling in other country's affairs. Striking similarities with 2014 Western-backed "maidan" coup in #Ukraine," stated the Russian embassy in Canada on their official Twitter account.
He hopes that this coup will also be a failure, "so that peace and dialogue are preserved and external interference led by Donald Trump is rejected." As Guaido has been self-proclaimed as president and was backed almost immediately by the U.S. government "that is backing the coup d'etat." He also states that this coup, in Spain, is being backed by the far-right, to which Garzon asks: "Isn't this representative? of what is happening in Venezuela? www.telesurenglish.net
The world joins Venezuelans to Commemorate Popular Uprising of Jan 23rd
Thousands of supporters of President Nicolas Maduro through solidarity messages, Venezuelans and some on the opposition held events and marched to commemorate 61 years from the end of the dictatorship of Marcos Perez Jimenez.
"Because Mr. Pence doesn't have a job, now he wants to come and run Venezuela, handing out instructions on what should happen in Venezuela tomorrow," Rodriguez said in a press in a short statement following Pence's interventionist message.
From the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Chavista supporters were gathered with the aim of defending the country’s sovereignty in the face of destabilizing attacks launched by right-wing groups at the national and international level. Supporters also called Maduro the legitimately-elected president of a "peaceful people.":
Furthermore, Venezuela Solidarity Campaign Secretary Dr. Francisco Dominguez was quoted as saying, "This is an outrageous violation of international law and an unacceptable interference into the affairs of a sovereign nation plus a grotesque aggression by openly calling on Venezuelans to rise up to oust the democratically elected government of President Nicolas Maduro."
An example of a domestic attack came recently with the burning of a statue dedicated to the late former President Hugo Chavez in Felix, Bolivar State. The opposition protest was called by lawmaker Juan Guaido. Guaido has been active in attempting to delegitimize the democratically-elected government
“Yankee, go home, was the resounding message sent by the Foreign Minister to the U.S. leader. “We're not going to allow you to intrude on issues of the country of Bolivar and the country of Hugo Chavez."
Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez condemned U.S. Vice President Mike Pence for "openly calling for a coup d'état in Venezuela" after Pence issued a video message of support to the Venezuelan opposition to encourage those who are protesting against President Nicolas Maduro.
Dr. Dominguez' claim that the U.S. has "had its fingerprints" all over the various coup d'etat's in the past were backed-up by U.K. MP Chris Williamson's arguments that "the spectacle of Mike Pence pontificating about 'freedom' deserves nothing but derision. The truth is the US has persistently suppressed freedom in Latin America and VP Pence's menacing rhetoric against Venezuela is the latest manifestation."
Rodriguez also rejected overt U.S. backing for opposition lawmaker Juan Guaido, the self-appointed head of the suspended National Assembly.

The assailants "moved on two military vehicles, then broke into the headquarters of the urban security outpost located in the town of Petare, Sucre, removing a cache of weapons of war and kidnapping, under threat of death, two officers and two national guard members of the aforementioned outpost."
Additionally, former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone tweeted, "It is clear Trump & co are working for illegal 'regime change' in Venezuela. The history of US backed right-wing coups in Latin America must not be forgotten." The protests in Venezuela began after the Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela thwarted an attempted attack on their facilities in Caracas.

Top court calls for probe into illegal actions of suspended National Assembly The opposition president of the National Assembly of Venezuela Juan Guaido has unconstitutionally sworn himself in as President to push a "transitional council."
Assembly of Venezuela Guaido has unconstitutionally sworn himself in as President to push a "transitional council," on Wednesday morning.
The coup agenda of the Venezuelan right-wing continues as opposition lawmaker Juan Guido unconstitutionally and illegally sworn himself in as president to boost "transitional council."
Mendoza noted that the National Assembly "expressly violates Article 236, numerals 4 and 15, as it seems to usurp the competence of the President of the Republic in directing the foreign relations of the State." In reference to celebrating and ratifying treaties, conventions and international agreements, as well as the exclusive attribution of the Executive Power to designate the heads of diplomatic missions.
In an act not contemplated by the Constitution of Venezuela, Guaido self-appointed himself to usurp the powers of the National Executive power. The head of the Executive Power corresponds to President Nicolas Maduro, who was elected with 67 percent of popular votes on May 20, 2018, for the period 2019- 2025.
"These agreements involve the execution of an act of force that seeks to repeal the constitutional text and all subsequent acts of the national public power," explained the magistrate of the Supreme Court.
The magistrate of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), Juan JosĂŠ Mendoza, urged the Public Ministry (Prosecutor's office) to investigate members of the National Assembly (AN), regarding the usurpation of powers of the Executive power in Venezuela.
The U.S. President Donald Trump "recognized" Guaido as president, materializing the agenda for the coup and destabilization as the opposition called for rallies in the streets. The same was done by Canada and the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, who has instigated the attacks against Venezuela and the Bolivarian Government.
The TSJ also ratified the unconstitutionality of the AN acts adding that the assembly continues to be in judicial contempt. The opposition self-appointed president of the National

kidnapping two officers and two members of the Venezuelan National Guard at gunpoint. In an unconstitutional event the president of the National Assembly in judiciary contempt, Juan Guaido, sworn himself in on Wednesday morning. After which U.S. President Donald Trump recognized the illegal self-proclaimed president. The same was done by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, who has instigated attacks against Venezuela and his Government. The government of Mexico, led by the center-left Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, maintained its previous position and reaffirmed their recognition of Nicolas Maduro as the legitimate president of Venezuela. Bolivia, Uruguay and Russia also decided to recognize Maduro.
Venezuela’s Defense Minister, Vladimir Padrino Lopez, declared that the National Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB) refuses to accept the opposition leader Jorge Guaido as the interim president of the Latin American country.
The Venezuelan president described the international effort as a coup organized by Washington against the Bolivarian Revolution and announced the Latin American country would end diplomatic relations with the U.S.
“The Homeland’s soldiers don’t accept a president imposed by obscure interests or self-proclaimed unlawfully,” said Padrino Lopez in his Twitter account, adding that the armed forces will defend the Venezuelan constitution and national sovereignty.
Opposition forces backed by the U.S. and other right-wing governments and organizations i the region continue with their coup agenda against the Bolivarian government. Meanwhile, in the streets of Caracas, Chavismo mobilizes in defense of peace, democracy and sovereignty of the country in the face of interference and destabilization of the national and international right-wing.

President Maduro’s meeting with political and social representatives from 94 nations of the world In the framework of the activities held after taking the oath for the second presidential term, the President, held a meeting with political and social leaders from all over Latin America, the Caribbean and other countries of the world. In the act, the President was accompanied by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza and other representatives of the Executive Cabinet. During the meeting, the Head of State exhorted the people to remain mobilized before any act that seeks to generate chaos and destabilization. “It is important that the people remain mobilized. The people mobilized is the guarantee for stability, it is the vaccine for any process of destabilization. While we are working there are crazy minds, improvised, immature minds that are at the head of the opposition looking for something to invent. Desperate, full of contradictions, of madness and the best vaccine against the immature and crazy minds is the mobilized people”, he said from the Yellow House in Caracas.
The President denounced that there is a show by the national and international right-wing to ignore the mandate the people made in May with more than 60% of the votes. He indicated that the promoters of these acts are the same who, in 2014 and in 2017 promoted a coup d’état against the Bolivarian Revolution, which left hundreds dead and injured. Due to these events, President Nicolás Maduro granted a period of 48 hours to governments of the Lima Group to rectify their position regarding Venezuela’s institutionality, integrity and territorial sovereignty. Until now, the governments of Argentina, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama and Chile have been rectified. The Head of State also commented that he will take to the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), the Plan de la Patria 2019-2025 in order to let the Original Power to perfect it and then make it the Law of the Republic. “I will ask for a Constitutional Law for the Plan de la Patria, because the ANC is the only one that have plenipotentiary powers”, he said. www.mppre.gob.ve

Ecuador should stop xenophobia against Venezuela citizens This behavior of President Moreno, besides being a carrier of prejudice and discrimination, is detrimental to Human Rights and constitutes punishable offenses both in the laws of both countries and in the international sphere, for which Venezuela holds the citizen responsible for the Republic of Ecuador and the State it directs, for any infraction against the physical, moral and citizen integrity of the Venezuelan nationals who are in that country. Consequently, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounces and rejects the decision of the Ecuadorian government to create what it has called "brigades to control the legal situation of Venezuelans", a measure confessedly derived from the criminalization of Venezuelan nationality, as constituting a patron of violation of human rights, as it is a generalized and systematic attack against a community with its own identity based on political, racial, national, ethnic or cultural reasons, for which reason the Venezuelan State reserves the decision to go to the authorities international organizations seeking to determine the responsibilities that correspond within the framework of international law.
The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has learned of a case of criminal violence that occurred on January 19 in the city of Ibarra, Republic of Ecuador, before the eyes of the community and its own public force, which would be found linked a Venezuelan citizen. By condemning this reprehensible event in the most energetic way and expressing condolences to family members and loved ones, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela considers it necessary to refer to the inexcusable communiquĂŠ issued by the President of the Republic of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, whereby, In an irresponsible way, an unusual correlation has been established between violence against women in Ecuador and citizens of Venezuelan nationality.
President Moreno's statement instigated a spiral of xenophobic violence against the Venezuelan migrant community in Ecuador, and it is the duty of his government to preserve the integrity and life of Venezuelans and Venezuelans. For its part, the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will continue to fulfill its commitment to protect the Venezuelan people who have been the victims of immigration fraud, expanding the scope of the Return to the Homeland Plan and its social inclusion policies for migrants. Returned.
In his capacity as Head of State, President Moreno is obliged to know that nationality is not a criterion of criminalization, which makes it especially repugnant to use this trick to evade the responsibility of his government in the reproduction of violent crimes with which it has not been able to deal, such as femicide, which only in 2018, reached the death toll of eighty-eight (88) women murdered in Ecuador for reasons of gender, that is, a mortal victim every four days.

Uganda, Tanzania meet to finalize pipeline deal
Officials from Uganda and Tanzania plan to meet this week to finalise on the joint pipeline project from Hoima to Tanga.
According to Ms Muloni, the financial model seems to be one of the major reasons the assigned companies have not yet made the final investment decision. This is setting back the goal of transporting oil by 2020.
Since the project’s inauguration in August 2017, there have been a series of technical meetings between the government of the two countries, but analysts say they have not covered much ground.
The three companies involved in the project are Total Oil of France, China National Offshore Oil Corporation and Tullow Oil of the UK. If the project started as scheduled then it would have been complete by 2020.
Now, the National Project Co-ordinator for Tanzania from the Ministry of Energy, Salum Mnuna, hopes the five-day ministerial meeting — starting on January 21 — will finalise how to operate, execute and supervise the project given the different laws in the two countries.
The project referred to as the Uganda- Tanzania Crude Oil Pipeline is also known as the East African Crude Oil Pipeline, and is expected to cost $4 billion.
Other pending issues are the registration of companies to be involved in the project, distribution of revenue, issues related to defence and security for both countries, and citizen participation in the implementation of the project.
The pipeline is expected to have the capacity to transport 216,000 barrels of crude oil every day. It will be 24 inches in diameter, and Uganda will pay Tanzania $12.20 for every barrel of oil that flows through the pipeline.
The execution of the 1,445km stretch of underground crude oil pipeline from Hoima in Uganda to Tanga in Tanzania has been in limbo since its inauguration, which has caused concern among stakeholders.
It will also be constructed in a way that enables it to heat the crude oil. www.theeastafrican.co.ke The opinions expressed in these articles are of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official position of the Embassy
