NEWSLetter Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Embassy in the Republic of Kenya Declaration in support of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
The Group of 77 and China expresses its rejection to the latest decision of the Government of the United States of America to expand its unilateral sanctions against the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on March 9th 2015, under the Executive Order signed by President Barack Obama, which declares "a national emergency with respects to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States posed by the situation in Venezuela" We reaffirm, at the same time, the Declaration adopted at the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Group of 77 held in Santa Cruz de la Sierra that firmly rejects the imposition of laws and regulations with extraterritorial impact and all other forms of coercive economic measures, including unilateral sanctions, against developing countries. The Group of 77 and China deplores these measures and reiterates its firm support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. In this regard, the Group of 77 and China emphasizes the need to respect international law, including the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and the Declaration of Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Cooperation among States in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations. The G-77 and China underlines the positive contribution of Venezuela to the strengthening of South-South Cooperation, solidarity and friendship among all peoples and nations, with a view to promoting peace and development. The Group of 77 and China conveys its solidarity and support to the Venezuelan Government affected by these measures which do not contribute, in any way, to the spirit of political and economic dialogue and understanding among countries. To the same extent, we urge the international community to adopt urgent and effective measures to eliminate the use of unilateral coercive economic measures against any State, in particular, developing countries. The G-77 and China calls upon the Government of the United States to evaluate and implement alternatives for a dialogue with the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, under the principle of respect to sovereignty and self determination of the peoples. Therefore, it urges to repeal the aforementioned Executive Order. New York, 25 March 2015
Over 90% of Venezuelans Have Access to Drinkable Water Caracas, 23 Mar. AVN About 96% of the population has access to drinking water sources in Venezuela, a Latin American country exceeding five years ago the 2015 Millennium Development Goals proposed by the United Nations (UN) ahead of the 2015 deadline. Currently, the Venezuelan government works to ensure safe water for the entire population. This was emphasized on Sunday March 22, World Water Day, by Minister of Ecosocialism, Housing and Habitat, Ricardo Molina, who stressed: “In Venezuela there is access to potable water throughout the country and the few people that do not have it yet, necessary investments are being made to ensure access to everybody.” In statements to state media, he also highlighted that government is redoubling efforts and investments to improve all the country’s reservoirs and develop plans to protect basins, as part of the fifth objective of Plan of the Homeland, which includes the preservation of life and the environment.
In this regard, ministry’s staffs are holding awareness-raising activities aimed at children, adolescents and adults, “for them to know it is a limited and valuable resource for human life and we must know how to use it in the best way,” stressed the minister and called to take care of this vital resource. Today the national coverage of drinking water reaches 96% of the population, which contrasts with the reality that existed in 1999, marked by the divestment in the hydrological area. At the time, 55% of residents in areas of social exclusion lacked water service. “In Venezuela the right to water is guaranteed; the need for access to water in Venezuela is covered, it is enshrined in our Constitution and President Nicolas Maduro defends those rights, so that today 22 March can say we have how to celebrate the World Water Day with our heads held high, because we are following our policies: ensuring the accessibility of drinking water for all our people,” he said.

Today, the democratically elected leadership of Venezuela remains an example of the leadership to follow by all those who desire genuine social and national Liberation. We are also aware of the class struggles going on in Venezuela today. The Bolivarian Revolution is a revolution, and no revolution in history has lacked enemies. The Bolivarian Revolution too is forced to remain vigilant and to defend its revolution from internal counterrevolutionaries who use all means, from economic sabotage, false propaganda and violence in futile but damaging attempts of oppression of Venezuela, counterrevolutionaries have escalated their activities by sabotaging the economy of the country. US imperialism and its allies while supporting counterrevolutionarries are imposing financial and commercial blockage calculated to overthrow the legitimate democratically elected revolutionary Government of Venezuela. Imperialism is also imposing unjust travel and other sanctions against leaders of Venezuela in order to humiliate and isolate them from their people and the world. As if this is not enough, the US government only a few months ago sponsored a coup plot agaisnt your democratically elected government that was fortunatetly frustrated by the patriotic army of Venezuela. President Maduro, SDP and its allies in Kenya are in total solidarity with your presidency, Government and people of Venezuela that are today defending their popular revolution for their people and humanity. We demand that the US stops its hostility towards the Bolivarian Government and revolution with immediate effect.Venezuela is not and cannot be a threat to the United States of America. The people of Venezuela have chosen the socialist system and the US must accept this whether it likes it or not. It must cease its neo-colonial hegemony and counterrevolutionary activities against the democratically elected Government of Venezuela. The US must stop sabotaging the economy of the country and imposing all sorts of threats and sanctions against its leaders. It must stop its dirty propaganda and interfering with the internal affairs of Venezuela. ECLAC: Venezuela is an example of equality and universal rights Caracas, 26 Mar. AVN.The executive secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Alicia Barcena, praised on Thursday the policies undertaken by the Venezuelan government to eradicate poverty and called other countries to follow its example in the region. "We have learned much from the Venezuelan people in term of equality and universal rights, and that's what we want to go on working, and, frankly, taking this (the Venezuelan experience) as an example to other countries in the region," said Barcena during a visit to a Social Mission Base in La Vega, Caracas, with Vice President for Social Development and Missions, Hector Rodriguez, as part of her agenda in Venezuela.
Barcena said that "the only acceptable value of poverty is zero and therefore to have a country engaged too closely (with these issues), despite difficult economic times (with low oil prices and the economic war waged by the bourgeoisie), is very important," she said. Social Mission Bases are the key instrument of the Bolivarian Revolution to eradicate extreme poverty. They are special attention points that group together various social programs in areas where extreme poverty still prevails, in order to meet the basic needs of these communities. They house government social programs such as free community food kitchens, subsidized food stores, and free medical clinics. Bases are made up of three modules through which are managed a series of social missions, programs created during the last 11 years of Bolivarian Revolution nationally and internationally acknowledged for their efficiency to increase Venezuelans' living condition. A first module works as shelter for doctors, who moved to the prioritized communities to give permanent attention. The second has been enabled for educational and cultural programs: Simoncito, for primary education; Robinson, literacy; Ribas, secondary education; and Sucre, university education. There is also a place to carry out cultural activities, courses, workshops, group reading, etc.

A third module consists of an outpost clinic attended by doctors who live in the community. There work programs Barrio Adentro and Sonrisa, one for primary health care and the other for dentistry. In short, there are three spaces: residential, services and educational module. A fourth model adds up to them, where works a Mercal, government-run stores that sell staple goods subsidized by 80 per cent. Some of these bases, located in the Sinai community in La Vega was visited by Barcena with Vice President Rodriguez and community sector, one of the 1,500 identified in extreme poverty by the National Statistics Institute (INE). Since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution efforts have been deepened to eradicate poverty in Venezuela. Commander Hugo Chavez created over 30 social missions, programs well-known by Venezuelans for its ability to improve their quality of life. As part of this policy, President Nicolas Maduro launched last June the National Campaign for the Eradication of Poverty which includes construction of Mission Bases in 1,500 communities with 70% of extreme poverty in the country. In Venezuela, extreme poverty fell from 21% in 1999 to 5.4% in 2014. This decrease is due in essence to the policies carried out to protect and include all sectors of society and more recently to the bases results. Unsatisfied Basic Needs is an indicator widely known by several nations as well as international agencies such as the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) or the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). This index measures five dimensions estimated basic to make a structural analysis of poverty and these are attended by the different social programs undertaken by the Bolivarian Administration. In this connection, it records the amount of homes with children aged between 7 and 12 who would not go to school; this situation is fought by granting free and universal education, food for students at school, distribution of books and sometimes uniforms, and Canaima laptops for free. It also analyzes the amount of homes with critical overcrowding, in inadequate houses or without basic services, aspects confronted by housing program Vivienda Venezuela and Barrio Nuevo, Barrio Tricolor. The index analyzes as well the number of economically dependent homes, a situation attended by soup kitchens, social productive initiatives of communal councils to boost employment, programs launched by Women's Bank and social programs Homes of the Fatherland and Love for the Elderly. On the basis of this indicator, Venezuela met a decade ago the goal of decreasing extreme poverty below 12 per cent by 2015, which is part of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.
