ALBA nations to triumph with unity and solidarity over imperialist violent plans.
To win the battle against the destabilizing plans promoted by the U.S. empire to the detriment of progressive governments in the region, it is necessary the unity and solidarity of the South American and Caribbean countries, led by organizations like the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA), the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and Petrocaribe, said Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Monday. "Divided we are nothing, just simply prey to be captured by the largest eagle, together we are a power, together we are becoming more powerful" and this union can "help adjust our common agenda to keep up with challenges we have today, major challenges, the world moves quickly," he said at the extraordinary meeting of the Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Trade Treaty of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP), which took place Monday at the seat of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, also known as the Yellow House in Caracas. The head of state said that after 10 years of its creation, ALBA has shown "how much they have done and especially how much to do in the years to come to build the independence
of our continent, true union, a block that is present in the world as a block of peace." "The union is a great driving force of independence, solidarity and love. It's a great engine of the new world that has emerged from its roots, from the deepest roots that a proindependence people may have," he stressed, adding that "We must defend ourselves united. Let us not underestimate the value and spiritual force of the solidarity of the Latin American and Caribbean peoples for the battles we have to face, sometimes under unequal and complex conditions." At the meeting – where regional representatives agreed to adopt joint actions to face the soft coup strategy staged by right-wing sectors against democratic governments of Latin America and the Caribbean– president of the host country insisted that the people should prepare for conspiracy attempts to become "awareness-raising tools" to strengthen the struggle for the new independence of the region. The regional bloc is composed of Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, the Commonwealth of Dominica, St. Lucia, Granada, Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis and Venezuela. www.avn.info.ve
