Venezuela rejects statement on Syria at the UN
1. Venezuela rejects statement on Syria at the UN
The Venezuelan government supports the sovereignty of the Syrian people and urges the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to work more objectively. Venezuela's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Rafael Ramirez, rejected on Tuesday paragraphs 8 and 10 of the Presidential Statement on Syria after considering that they violate the sovereignty and self-determination of its people. In his view, the statement presented at the meeting of the Security Council encourages the political transition and the establishment of an imposed government, which is a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations (UN). "Venezuela believes that the creation of a transitional government with full executive powers in Syria violates the principles of the Charter of the United Nations equality of States and respect for self-determination, which is a very dangerous precedent for the international security and peace," Ramirez said. Through his Twitter account @RRamirezVE the Venezuelan diplomat informed that the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela supports the sovereignty of Syria and the war on terrorism.

Venezuela will postulate at Unesco as a country bearer of good education and health practices The Venezuelan government will request
the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Unesco, so that programmes such as community medicine, the Latin American School of Medicine, Sucre Mission, Canaimitas and Canaima become part of the category of Good Practice of this supranational body, the vice president of planning and knowledge, Ricardo Menendez, said last Tuesday.
Menendez said at a press conference that such plans are landmarks that serve as a reference for teacher training in the country.
"The community medicine is a flagship program of our country that will, in the coming years, generate almost the same amount of medical professionals that had been trained from 1980 to 2000", he said. He added that from 1990 to 2000 the national labor system had 1 million professionals holding university degrees, while today that number has increased to more than 2 million. "The Latin American School of Medicine is part of this effort and the extensive Latin American experience that is transcendental and widely noted," Menendez said. Regarding the Sucre Mission, he said that "it happens to be the largest university in our country, which also advances the processes of training and specialization of their teachers".
On Canaimitas and Canaima, he added that "it is another project of international reference, not only for facilitating delivery of hardware and equipment to students, but the development of software, programs and content". Best Practices are initiatives, projects and policies that provide practical examples, generate ideas and contribute to the adoption of policy measures to improve education in the world, as described by Unesco on its website.
Educational model As part of the new educational model that will be implemented in the country, Menendez said that in the coming weeks a meeting will be held with authorities of the university system to explain what the specific requirements are in terms of the formation for careers. Among the proposals will be "the disparity of the offer in some cases, that has been established and may exist at national and regional level", so "this will require an adjustment of our university system, (because) this is a fundamental adaptation that we do throughout the development of knowledge in our country", said the vice president. www.avn.info.ve
