Statement in support of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela: The Group of 77 and China express their rejection to the recent decision of the Government of the United States to extend its unilateral sanctions against the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We reaffirm, at the same time, the Declaration adopted at the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Group of 77, held in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, which firmly rejects the imposition of laws and regulations with an extraterritorial effect, and all other forms of coercive economic measures, including unilateral sanctions against countries under development. The Group of 77 and China reiterates the urgent need to repeal all measures taken against Venezuela or any other State that may undermine the United Nations Charter and international law, in particular the principle of non-intervention. The Group of 77 and China expresses its solidarity and support to the Venezuelan Government affected by these measures, which in no way contribute to a climate of political and economic dialogue and understanding between the countries. At the same time, we urge the international community to take urgent and effective measures to eliminate the use of unilateral coercive economic measures against any State, especially for developing countries. 27th April, 2015

One more achievement:

Free immunization scheme doubled in 16 years of Bolivarian Revolution Caracas, 28 Abr. AVN.Until 1999, the Expanded Program on Immunization consisted of only six vaccines for children, teens and older adults, but with the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution and sustained implementation of macro policies to ensure health to the people, the vaccination scheme now comprises 12 inoculations which are applied throughout the year for free. In order to reinforce this coverage, the Venezuelan government takes part since last Sunday in the Vaccination Week of the Americas –the regional initiative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)– intended to vaccinate more than 3.8 million people, 800,000 more than in 2014, from April 25 to May 31. In this regard, the Minister of Health, Henry Ventura said yesterday from the Simon Bolivar Hospital in Falcon state, this year the Government estimates to increase immunization coverage of children, indigenous and prison people in the more than 150 priority municipalities.

influenza (seasonal influenza), rotavirus, pentavalent, a combination of five vaccines in one: diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenza type b (the bacteria that causes meningitis, pneumonia and otitis); polio, yellow fever and trivalent MMR against Measles, Mumps and Rubella.

For this campaign, 5,957 immunization posts have been set up in hospitals, maternity wards, outpatient network, Barrio Adentro modules, and other health areas where children, adolescents, youth and adults will receive free doses.

The first weekend of vaccination, a total of 245,000 doses of vaccine were applied in the country, said earlier director general of Indigenous Health, Janet Ipuana.

At the vaccination campaign, which includes a series of visits from house by house and school by school, to communities in extreme poverty, difficult to reach indigenous peoples, border communities, it was applied vaccines such as: hepatitis B,

In statements to state media, Ipuana added that 7,000 indigenous people were vaccinated on Sunday. "This is part of our millennium goal, which is to ensure health to the entire population ranging from health promotion and

prevention to ensuring a better quality of life. Expanding vaccination coverage has been a revolutionary policy throughout the national territory." Health authorities are expected to immunize some 725,000 indigenous communities located in the states of Amazonas, Delta Amacuro, Apure, Anzoategui, Monagas, Sucre and Zulia, where most inhabitants of the 54 native peoples of the country are gathered. This vaccination campaign has been held since 2003, and 519 million people in the American continent have been applied vaccines since then, according to a press release published by PAHO

Venezuela and Uruguay register Lowest inequality in Latin America A UN report said governments have pursued aggressive policies of wealth redistribution have seen the greatest decrease in inequality. A book published 28th April by the U.N. Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) studying the relationship between inequality and taxation policies revealed that government intervention has succeeded in substantially reducing inequality. The book, “Inequality, Concentration of Income and Taxation of High Incomes in Latin America,” shows despite remaining as the most unequal region in the world, the last decade marked a departure with an overall decrease in inequality. “During the period between 2002 and 2013, 15 of the 17 countries analyzed showed distributive improvements, reflected in the decline of the Gini coefficient,” the report states. The Gini coefficient is a frequently used instrument used to measure inequality, with the closer the number to zero, the lesser the inequality. The countries that showed the greatest decrease in inequality were Venezuela and Uruguay, countries whose governments have pursued aggressive policies of wealth redistribution. Bolivia, Nicaragua, Argentina, and Venezuela registered the largest annual drops in the Gini coefficient, which also suggests that the progressive wealth redistribution programs of these leftist governments have had a positive result. In March, ECLAC executive secretary Alicia Barcena visited Venezuela, praising the country for its efforts to eradicate poverty.

Despite the advances, the study showed that the concentration of wealth continues to remain high generally in the region. The book primarily focuses on the impacts of taxation policies focusing on higher-earners and their effects on wealth redistribution, making a series of recommendations to lessen inequality in the region. One specific recommendation of the study calls on governments to improve their tax collection. According to ECLAC, tax avoidance in the region averages 51.4 percent, compared to 28.7 percent on average in 11 European countries. “A study is needed on what further tax reforms are still pending that can increase revenues and the effective scope of taxes on higher income individuals, which would improve the distributional impact of tax systems,” concludes the study.
