Walter Wick: Games, Gizmos and Toys in the Attic September 19, 2010–January 2, 2011 → thewalters.org/exhibitions/walter-wick This exhibition celebrates Walter Wick, co-creator of I Spy and the creator of the Can You See What I See book series loved by millions of children and adults around the world. Large model sets, photographs and illusions are on view. Numerous connections to the science, language arts, social studies and visual arts curricula! Don’t miss the Walter Wick Student Competition! Student teams will create a diorama or kinetic machine inspired by Wick’s work. “Intent to Submit” forms are due on September 20, 2010. → Go to teachers.thewalters.org for details. Kids under 17 are admitted free to the special exhibition. Two chaperones per 10 children will also be allowed free entry. Additional chaperones pay the $10.00 special exhibition fee.
SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS
Treasures of Heaven: Saints, Relics and Devotion in Medieval Europe February 13–May 15, 2011 Explore the development of the early Christian era of relics from late antiquity to the end of the Middle Ages. Investigate the place of relics and reliquaries in medieval religious practices and discover how that practice continues today.

Student Programs
Outreach Visits local outreach A professional museum educator will come to your school and lead an object-based lesson. Outreach is FREE and prepares your students for their museum field trip. Limited to schools within a 50-mile radius from the museum. Check the appropriate box on our on line registration form. Distant Outreach ⁄ Trunk Program This free resource trunk focusing on the ancient world includes object reproductions, activities and more. Studio Experiences Enhance your guided tour with an art studio. Students will engage in tour themes by creating a work of art which they can take home. Check the appropriate box on our on-line registration form. Cost of studios: $1.50 ⁄ student (FREE for Title I schools) Minimum number of students: 15 Maximum number of students: 60 Combined length of tour and studio: Grades K–1: 1 ½ hours; Grades 2–12: 2 hours

Artist-in-residency program Work with a professional ceramic artist from Young Audiences to observe, analyze, and be inspired by the Walters collection. Create a mosaic mural for your school that reflects both your museum experience and your time with the artist. → For details and pricing, email info@yamd.org.
Teacher Programs

MEET THE ARTIST: I SPY, WALTER WICK! Thursday, September 16, 2010 4:15 p.m.–6:30 p.m. $20 members ⁄ $30 non-members Walter Wick will take you on a guided tour of his exhibition and will discuss his use of science, puzzles and illusions. Following the gallery experience, Walters’ educators will lead a hands-on studio that you can use in your classroom. Space is limited to 40 participants. Price includes guided tour with the artist, workshop supplies, educator’s guide and light refreshments.

The Arts of Islam Workshop Thursday, November 11, 2010 4:30–7 p.m. Free Join Walters’ educators and curators to learn how to use our collection of Islamic art in your classroom.
Pachyderm TechnoLogy Workshop Saturday, May 14, 2011 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. $50 / teacher (price includes workshop materials and lunch) Pachyderm, a user-friendly, opensource software, will enhance your teaching and inspire you to use technology in new ways. Use the Walters’ on line collection to create interactive multi-media presentations. Space is limited to 20 participants.
Wednesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 23, 2011 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. $130 ⁄ pair includes workshop, refreshments, and 1 MSDE credit Use the Walters’ collection, work with teaching artists and create arts integrated lessons in this two-day workshop. Led by the Walters and Young Audiences ⁄ Arts for Learning. Participants should apply in interdisciplinary pairs (arts with non-arts teacher). Application required, due by May 1, 2011. Space is limited to 20 participants.
Customized Professional Development and Workshops Learn how to use the museum as a resource for teaching in the classroom. Workshops can take place at the museum or the site of your choice. Topics include arts integration and technology.
