THE DESIGN PROCESS
Creating your Project
STEP 1 | CLIENT CONSULTATION The design process begins with an initial consultation meeting to visit the yacht (if applicable) and meet with the clients and any other professionals involved to discuss the project in detail. This meeting helps us to establish a scope of work and develop a personal understanding of the client’s requirements. After this meeting, we present a Letter of Engagement.

STEP 2 | LETTER OF ENGAGEMENT At VH, our goal is to make the design process an enjoyable one for our clients. Our Letter of Engagement outlines our design process, together with a breakdown of our method of operation to guarantee transparency and to ensure our clients understand the process. Upon signing the agreement, 50% of the allocated fee is due for payment in order to commence work on the project. The final 50% is due prior to the presentation date.
STEP 3 | CREATING THE DESIGN The VH design team begin creating the overall vision for the project and develop preliminary concepts and selections for each area of the yacht. The designer takes into consideration the client’s goal for the project together with an understanding of the budget, timeframe and durability of each selection. The designers are able to source specialty pieces, custom-designed furniture and unique artwork taking into account any pieces you may want to incorporate. The detailed creative process can take approximately 4-6 weeks from commencement to completion depending on the scope and scale of the project. For new build projects, the timeline can vary.

STEP 4 | CONCEPTUAL PRESENTATION The Conceptual Presentation is a meeting at the client’s home/yacht or preferred location. The meeting incorporates a combination of a tactile and digital presentation to provide a detailed overview of the concept and selections for each area of the project. For interior design projects, these initial concepts allow the designers to further develop selections and finishes based on client feedback.
STEP 5 | CHECK MEASURE Once all designs are selected and approved, the VH team organise a site meeting (if applicable) with any trade professionals required to quote and execute the project. On-site measurements, photos and a final criteria meeting is completed.
STEP 6 | SCHEDULE OF FURNITURE, FINISHES & FIXTURES Working alongside your architect or builder, VH can guide as much or as little of the build/renovation process as you need and offer consultancy support. 3D renders and walk-throughs are optional and are designed in collaboration by an out-sourced team of experts/architect at an additional fee if required. Any documentation / specifications required for new build/renovations are charged on an hourly rate basis. If you do not require design consultancy, this step will not apply.
STEP 7 | QUOTATION & PROPOSAL Interior decoration items such as furniture, soft furnishings, light fixtures, wallpaper and bespoke pieces that make up the interior selections of a project are all detailed, itemised and individually quoted to provide the client an accurate, transparent overview of the selections and costs involved. At this stage, the proposal is presented and the VH team include installation and styling for items purchased with VH. Additional costs for styling client’s pieces are charged by the hour.

STEP 8 | PROCUREMENT & JOB EXECUTION Our design expertise and experienced team execute the procurement phase of the project with precision and accuracy over a 12–16-week period depending on the project scale. Regular updates are provided by our project coordination and finance team to ensure you are updated on the progress of your project. This phase of the project is seamless & streamlined, progress payments may be due if the project exceeds $100,000.
STEP 9 | INSTALLATION & STYLING The client reveal is where the true creation and vision for the project comes to life. Every detail is meticulously planned and executed. The installation is completed over 1-2 days depending on the scale of the project and is completed by the VH team together with a white-glove delivery service and skilled tradespeople to ensure wallpaper, window treatments, furniture, soft furnishings and all decorative items are styled to perfection. Upon completion, the designers reveal the highly anticipated moment to their clients and enjoy a walkthrough of each space together.
STEP 10 | PROJECT COMPLETION Prior to project completion, the VH team identify if any items require attention (i.e. defects/damages) and ensures all issues are rectified and resolved swiftly to ensure minimal inconvenience to the client. The project is then completed with final billings, photoshoot (if applicable) and a heartfelt thank you.
