ABOUT 2D
Since 2006 2D, the Northern Ireland Comics Festival has been developed, organised and delivered by the Verbal Arts Centre to nurture the art of visual storytelling and to highlight the importance of illustration in engaging young people with literature. This year, building on the legacy of 2013, we are excited to unveil a yearlong programme of events and opportunities to engage with the art of storytelling and illustration. The centre and its work is unique on the island of Ireland and is founded on the principal of promoting the written and spoken word encouraging everyone to “tell their story”. The programme will be delivered in partnership with various key stakeholders including Culturetech, Western Health Trust, BookTrust NI, Publishing NI, Youth Council of Northern Ireland and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Lottery fund.
