All Good In The Hood: Rebuilding Commnities
Lubbock, Texas a.k.a The Hub City "Cotton Pick'n Education" Pt. 1
The beginning: Lubbock, Tx got it's start when the city's Monterey, Texas & North Town, Texas (both city's began around ~1890) came together to found what is now called Lubbock, Texas in 1909 named after Texas Ranger & Govenor of Texas during the CIvil War Francis Lubbock. After a population increase in the 1920's, thanks to the boom in the cotton industry in the area. Lubbocks first schools was built on 19th named Tom S. Lubbock HIgh School. African-American students would gather at churches and most would attend Mount Gilead (est. 1917). Black citizens requested funds from the city of Lubbock to fund schools and tools needed for education but nothing came from the city in any shape form of fashion. Instead of sitting by and pointing fingers black parents and leaders of the community put their hard earned money together and constructed a two building school on 17th street in the fall of 1923.
It was named: The Paul Lawrence Dunbar School, and in 1932 Dunbar opened it's doors to 12th grade students. The city's expansion south began with in the 1950's with the construction of Monterey HIgh School @ 47th & Indiana Ave. In 1954 when the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the "Brown Verses the Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas" decision that stated segregation in public schools created unequal contitions between black & white schools in which ordered schools in the south to intergrate all classes. Coronado's third white only school opened up their doors to students in 65'-66'. Lubbock Estacado High School opened up its door's in 67'-68' northside of town near Mackenzie Park. Estacado High catered to those building homes near the Lubbock Country Club. In 1970 a tornado ripped through the town leaving houses dismantled and families looking to live elsewhere. After that day Lubbock, Tx wouldn't ever be the same!!!

Marek Ratajczyk (born 9 March 1990 in PÂłock, Poland), known professionally as Joker (and previously as Dj Bubble), I'm a Polish DJ and music producer.
This sytuation did not kill me, but it gave me strength to fight for my life in my life. At the age of 19, I discovered electronic dance music and was inspired me by artists such as deadmau5, Avicii, Skrillex and more. Exactly my adventure start again. Than I started production, with different types of music like a House, Tropical House, Big Room, Rap, Trap, Hybrid Trap and of course Dubstep, becouse this last type of music is my favorite. Why ? Becouse sounds in this genere, reminds me sounds, of the future, full of metalic robo sounds, where robots and War dominate the world. This is sad but true, becouse in near future this dream will be a real present. And this is my inspiration in creating music. FUTURE !! I send my mind further into the future for something new.

The Poetry Corner: written by Barry Irving Oklahoma City / Las Vegas, NV You are my other half sweetheart You are a part of my soul, heart and my mind. There is not one day I can go by without you or not thinking about YOU. When you are in my presence I glow like a disco ball, smile as big as a Kool-Aid Jammer (YOU GO GIRL). Baby you is my light and my life. I need YOU like I need water, which is essential to my well being. You help me see life differently from what I was accustom to, proved that all women aren't the same in this World. YOU are a definition of a True Nubian Goddess who rule this Realm.YOU are a reflection of who I am, strong resilient, prowess, loyal, full of life, so so so beautiful. What would My World be like if you wasn't in it???
"My Other Half/My Trinity by King Suave" I wouldn't have found what true love really is if you never existed in my lifetime. Your different from the rest, you come one in a million. I have never met one woman was so much a savage, but yet gorgeous, educated, conscious and awoken at the same damn time. Someone who's brain matches their beauty, like my brain matches my masculine handsomeness (YES INDEED). People say we are two peas in the pot. Our love for one another bars none, all look to US as The Ideal Trinity. I am your rock, YOU are my world and my peace. Together we can conquer whatever life throws at US cause we are ONE and we will never break apart. YOU are my heartbeat, every inch of YOU gives me life, for that I'm so grateful and happy YOU are apart of my life, love, love, love you until death due us apart and then it won't matter because OUR spirits lives on forever and we'll meet each other again in the afterlife MY LOVE.My other Half, My Trinity, love you my Half Twin, My Other Half, My Sweetheart Peace, Love, Life, Harmony, Family, US, WE, Power and Abundance. Gia Yee "The Reggae Perscription"
H
itting the airwaves immediately upon its August 31st 2018 release, Gia Yee describes her new album as a cultural roots reggae fusion mix. Delivered in her smooth signature style.
“I stay true to the roots of reggae, and infuse some touches of ska beats and dancehall riddims, a little classic funk and vinyl, some R&B, and just a hint of EDM – to keep things interesting and fresh” The new songs include roots reggae, conscious-raising tracks “GASLIT”, “BOTH FEET”, “ERASED”, and “ANYTHING”; two renditions of a Ska influenced song called “NOTE TO SELF”; an upbeat funk infused cultural blending song called “YO RASTA”; a Dancehall and EDM influenced tune entitled “MY AVATAR”; a smooth lovers rock track called “ISLAND NIGHTS”; and the ballad of “RASTA JACK”, which was intentioned to illustrate what true love is like in its most simplistic form. Thrilled about it’s release and it’s great reception, she’s aiming to connect globally in a meaningful way. “I chose my words carefully and try to offer a positive outlook, even if the subject matter happens to be a challenging or emotional one” Says Gia, and continues, “ Music is a powerful force, so I try to stay reverent to that fact, and ultimately offer a positive message and vibe”. Extremely grateful for how everything fell into place, Gia expresses feeling truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with so many of the top musicians and producers in Jamaica while producing her new album - which was a big milestone for this new female reggae artist. The title of her new album, REGGAE PRESCRIPTION, pretty much says it all, as it entertains, soothes, and uplifts the soul with its original reggae tracks. “I chose the title REGGAE PRESCRIPTION for my new album” says Gia, “as I felt it chronicled, and was representative of my transformational experience - I believe that music has the power to heal, and often say that ‘writing music is my therapy, and reggae music is my refuge’ – so REGGAE PRESCRIPTION - just sounded right”.

The Interview: Gia Yee Verb'z Up: Who are you & where are you from? Gia Yee: I’m a reggae fusion music artist, singer/songwriter, and a passionate creative. Born to a father who is Jamaican Chinese and a mother of African descent, I spent most of my childhood and life growing up in the suburbs of Detroit. I currently reside in the state of Florida, but spend a significant amount of time traveling back and forth to Jamaica to record and connect with my roots. Verb'z Up: What do you do & for how long? Gia Yee: I began my music career in 2016 after writing and recording a series of original songs. After discovering my new path and passion, I formed a company called
One Heart Entertainment, so that I could produce my own music as an Indie artist. My short-term goal was to ultimately produce my first fulllength album - which I’m thrilled to say was completed this year and released on August 31st. My Reggae Prescription LP, which is a cultural roots reggae fusion mix, was a huge milestone for me, and I’m looking forward to more recording in the near future. Verb'z Up: What does the Underground Industry mean to you? Gia Yee: I was drawn to the Underground Music Industry as a youth, and feel very fortunate to have been a teen in the 70’s and young adult in the 80’s, during the emergence of the alternative music era. Some of my most memorable
times are associated with frequenting concerts and the underground clubs back in the day. Verb'z Up: There’s plenty of other things in this world to do… What’s your alternatives? Gia Yee: I simply love to create things. Besides creating music, I invent and develop product ideas, which I’ve been dabbling in for quite some timeBut for now, pretty much everything has taken a back seat to my focus on music.

The Interview : Gia Yee Verb'z Up: Who/What was your inspiration(s)? Gia Yee: I’m inspired by originality and beauty in many forms, and inspired by those who are on the cutting edge creatively. Musically, my influences have changed over the years, but I’d have to say that David Bowie and Bob Marley have been my biggest inspirations overall. Verb'z Up: In your honest opinion, Do you think that Underground/Indie music is better than Mainstream music? Gia Yee: I believe that Underground/Indie and Mainstream music both have their place and significance to their followers, but I personally love the Underground/ Indie music,
-and have since as far back as I can remember. I think that it’s just always been in my nature to prefer things that are a little outside of the box. Verb'z Up: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Gia Yee: Since I began my music carrer a little later in life, I’m very grateful that music is timeless. 10 years from now, I hope to be well established as an artist, traveling the world, making a meaningful difference, and spreading love through music. Verb'z Up: Everyone is different… What do you think it means to be successful? Gia Yee: To me, being successful simply means to be leading a life that’s a ‘Win Win’ – a life that serves and benefits both ones self and others in some way.

Verb'z Up: If you could spread one message to every single person in the WORLD, What would it be? Gia Yee: That it’s never too late to find your voice, speak your truth, and follow your heart.
