He is a talent scout for the majors and brings top talent to the industry. He's from Durham, NC. Boss is 51 years of age and has also worked for Sony Music and as a A&R for Def Jam Recordings under Wise McGriff of Def Jam Recordings. He got into the entertainment and amusement industry over 20 years ago and started promoting some of the biggest tours, showcases, and concerts back in Phoenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia in 1996. He then started managing unsigned and independent artist and that's how Verse Music Management Group LLC was born in 2005. Mike Boss has definitely made history in the music industry with the longest ever recorded artist tour (Carolina Kings Tour) which latest over a year featuring names like: Lil Scrappy, Lil Rue, Lil John and The Eastside Boys, Jadakiss, Verse Simmons, Fabo, Shawty LO, Crime Mob, Pastor Troy, Franchise Boys, and many more traveling across the United States. Through the years he built up his contact list of important people in the music industry. ach born in Roanoke "Star City",VA. iLL-iteracy's members developed affinities for music early in their lives. Whether it was jam sessions in the basement or rocking the crowd at their high school football games, their talent and love for all things instrumental was obvious.
"Not following the hype of others, just the love and passion to make riLL music" The group was officially formed circa 1998, but have known each other since about the age of six. Beginning with tee-ball, the members had a close friendship with each other that only seemed to grow stronger as time went by. This is a fact that many people find intriguing, as not too many people tend to have one best friend for so long, let alone an entourage of them. The group was formed in the Dudley Basement, which was only a half mile away from William Fleming High School where they all attended. Honors classes, magnet programs, and an enthusiastic approach to learning undoubtedly had an effect on their appreciation for the art of music. After school, each of the members would gather around a computer, a base-model plastic computer microphone, and a technologically inferior recording program just for kicks. There was no mission in mind; no money-making scheme... There was just music. The members of iLL-iteracy are Scott Dudley - "Chris Prythm", Kirk Dudley - "Speek Eazy", Corey English - "WiLL Spitwell", and George Trent - "Young Observe". Now operating under the witty moniker "iLL-iteracy," they site influences such as God, each other, Roanoke City, prayerful mothers, scornful fathers, the loss of loved ones, and all the typical conditions that define an inner-city. Their sound is inspirational but far from ignorantly blissful and their musical arsenal ranges from upbeat anthems to thought provoking, more conscious selections.

'iLL-it' shows no indication of slowing down nor do they appear to be fatigued in spite of working day-jobs, earning college degrees, and managing families. The phrase "due time" undoubtedly comes to mind when you factor in that the team writes, records and mixes all their own music. The group's determination shines through more recent ventures including "iLL-it Beatz," an integral section of the official website (www.iLLit.com) that was created from beginning to end by Speek Eazy and Chris Prythm. "iLL-it Beatz" showcases and makes available quality, customfitted tracks for other artists to use in further sharpening of their respective crafts.
In an industry where 'onehitwonders' are prevalent, the individuals that make up iLLiteracy are bound and determined to be anything but. They continue to develop their skills on both the artist/producer and executive sides of the business in preparation for the opportunity that most never get. Julia Arna: Finishing up 2018 stong!!! Julia finishes 2018 with 40,000 streaming minutes on Spotify alone. She is making serious strides in the independent realm. Her current projects includes a collaboration with Raymond Barton. He is well known for his songwriting and producing female talent and has written for Toni Braxton,as well is a Voting member of the Grammys. This will be her first release as an R&B artist and will be writing lyrics to a beat from Barton as well. The new year takes her to Cannes, France in June for MIDEM. A conglomeration of labels, talent and festival buyers and exposure to showcase.
The 3 day event in June has over 50,000 in attendance annually. The mother of three will be recording in Denmark with her producer Alpalmcino to kick out more EDM and related genres. MIC PRO: I have been rapping since 16 and producing music for the past 4 years, starting in 2014. VERB'Z UP: What does the "Underground INdustry" mean to you? MIC PRO: It's a national Platform where indie or small label artist can gain exposure while maintaining their individual sound without the interference from major labels. VERB'Z UP: There's plenty of other things to do in this world... What's your alternatives? MIC PRO: There is no other alternative for me as far as what I want to achieve. I am here to win.
Virginia Beach, VA VERB'Z UP: Who/What is your inspiration? MIC PRO: Escaping the grip of everyday life at the bottom. That's what strives me to reach my goals to become who I want to be. VERB'Z UP: In your opinion, do you think that Underground/Indie music is better than the Mainstream music? MIC PRO: It is more authenic and doesn't have constraints of making pop records for the masses. All mainstream artist that force records for sales should wear a "Will Rap For Profit" shirt. VERB'Z UP: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? MIC PRO: I'm four years into my indie career so I'd say either just breaking thru to mainstream or at my peak, but I do not want to sacrifice my vison for a sales pitch. VERB'Z UP: Everyone is different.. What do you think it means to be successful? MIC PRO: Success is achieving the goals that you set to become who you envision. VERB'Z UP: If you could spread one message to every single person in the world what would it be? MIC PRO: Keep your eyes focused on the finish line.

OPEN MIC's These day's when it comes to performing, artist's seem to think that it's all about the "big names" that open up for or the size of the crowd or venue when in reality its about HOW MANY performances you do a year. As long as your registered with a PRO company (Performance Rights Organazition) YOU WILL MAKE MONEY PERFORMING because THEY will make sure that you do.... It's their job. Now day's you have artist consultants in the business that hasnt studied one lick of what the music industry is about and those are the ones that's encouraging said artist to opt out of the "Pay to Play" or "Open Mic' performances because they THINK it wont help their career when it gets them PAID!
To perform or not to perform... That is the question!!! You have some artists who have gained a great reputation as a performer in the "Promoter World" and they ALWAYS seem to get the "Good Shows" and you have artist's who can't seem to catch a break.
