MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR Happy New Year from all of us at the Vernon Public Art Gallery. The VPAG has been hard at work ensuring the COVID pandemic has minimal impact to our programming and operations. While we continue to maneuver this global issue, we remind you that the gallery is here to provide you with critical creative content through these challenging times. What better way to disconnect from the chaos than submersing yourself in the quiet contemplation that the VPAG provides. We will be starting off 2022 with four new exhibitions. Ramble On is a selection of works from UBCO’s Public Collection which consists of over 700 pieces, largely from Canadian contemporary artists and local Okanagan artists. Coralee Miller’s exhibition Hidden Spirits depicts images reflecting traditional Syilx/ Okanagan influences. From the Void is a series of illustrations by Steve Scott delving into the world of ancient arts, myths and science fiction. Our Community Gallery will feature the Indigenous works of KAMA? Creative Aboriginal Arts Collective, a group of local Indigenous artists who have gathered together to present Unsettle the Settler: Dismantling Systemic Oppression. We look forward to seeing you at the VPAG during 2022, specifically at our next opening reception on January 20 at 6 pm. Kind Regards, Dauna Kennedy
