VERNON PUBLIC ART GALLERY
OCTOBER / DECEMBER 2016
VOL. 25, NO. 5
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
I
t is with great pleasure that the Vernon Public Art Gallery welcomes Lyndal Osborne for a solo exhibition titled Coevolution which opens on October 13th. Her work explores the dynamics between issues relating to nature and the environment. This current exhibition consists of sculptural installations creating a conversation around genetic engineering and its potential impact on traditional growing methods. This is a topic very relevant to the Okanagan Valley with its vast orchards and agriculture and we look forward to creating the opportunity for dialogue on this very important topic. Also opening on the 13th of October is a local juried exhibition by the North Okanagan chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists titled Diversity. Please join us for this opening reception to meet some of our local talent and welcome Lyndal Osborne from Edmonton. Coming in November is our popular members’ exhibition, Exposed. This annual show and sale provides the opportunity for our members to showcase their work in a professional gallery setting. From the amateur artists to the senior artists, this exhibition portrays a range of talent. A portion of all sales supports VPAG’s programming and operations, so consider your Christmas gift list while you explore this exhibition. The opening reception will take place on Thursday Nov. 10th from 6-8pm. Please review our upcoming public programming and be sure to register early as space is limited in some of the sessions. The Gallery Shop is starting to receive new products for the upcoming Christmas season and will be implementing a Gift Registry for those special occasions. Stay tuned, more information on this to follow through our Friday E-News. See you at the Gallery!
Dauna Kennedy, Executive Director
