Ordinary objects for extraordinary people

About us Vicara is a Portuguese brand that develops products by exploring the frontiers of design. Created in 2011, Vicara has already been recognised worldwide for unconventional and distinctive design approaches on unexpected materials. Our commitment, in collaboration with Portuguese partners and designers, is to constantly search for innovative production processes, autochthon components and concepts that go beyond the established way of thinking. We believe that unique products share unique relations with people. Challenging and idiosyncratic harmonies that become meaningful in the eye of the beholder. We design objects, you make them whole.

RG19 Suspension Lamp Design by Rui Grazina

RG19 is a lightning object constituted by two parts, a steel rod and a light bulb. The components normal logic was inverted. The light bulb is just a representation, an illumination sign. The secondary component, the rod, gives it its utility; where we find the object’s main function. 10

11

Nata Table Lamp Design by Gonรงalo Campos

A ceramic lamp, with gentle curves and a classical look, borrowed from the shapes of table top ceramic wear. It is actually made from a rehabilitaded mould, only rearanged... The result is this gentle and familiar shape, that only with slight changes now serves a whole new purpose. 12

13

Corkmatterslugh Suspension Lamp Design by Tiago Sรก da Costa

Corkmatters is a series of objects that combine mathematics and the uniqueness of the material to unfold agglomerate cork sheets in three-dimensional shapes. These lamps cast shadows and light in a diffuse and warm way.

Acessories

Chpada Umbrella Design by Paulo Sellmayer

We are not always in war nor it is always raining. The sword protects us in case of war, whereas the umbrella is our weapon against the rain.

18

19

Cristo Purificador Car air freshener Design by Paulo Sellmayer

The crucifix and the air fresheners are the most common rear-view mirror trinkets used in Portuguese cars. Since they both occupy the same place, Cristo Purificador seeks to solve this dispute, by merging both of them in one object. 20

21

Decor

Corkybowl Bread Basket Design by Tiago Sรก da Costa

A natural and eco-friendly basket made of cork. It has a traditional look and feel suitable for bread or fruit.

24

25

Medallion Candle Holder Design by Gonçalo Campos & Maria Bruno NÊo

Inspired by the age old tradition of crochet and decorative knitting, Medallion is a candleholder with a unique knitted handle. All the details and lightness of the knots are preserved in porcelain so that everyone is able to see the hard work and beauty of this art form. 26

27

Jarrra Jar Design by Paulo Sellmayer

This object departs from the most traditional ceramic typologies and the constant will to change an object’s shape. Having three different profiles, this jar will always escape obsolescence with a simple rotation.

28

29

“ Terra is based on the primitive natural elements used

by mankind in the construction of handmade artifacts. The unique works in Terra result from the exploration of self-production methods and processes that cherish our ancestral interaction with everyday objects and the feelings derived from that tactile experience. Paulo Sellmayer, creative director

Caruma Vases Design by Eneida Tavares

A series of vases elaborated through ceramic and basket weaving aiming to prove that there can be an interdependent connection between separate materials with distant origins.

32

33

Cimento Vases Design by Jorge Carreira

A collection of containers in thin cement, resulting from a self-production process that enables the adaptability of a material we tend to see as being stiff and inflexible. 34

35

Cerne Bottle Design by Samuel Reis

Cerne represents the core of a tree trunk that does not take part on the conduction of water. The use of the trunk’s core as a mold for glass comes from the idea of rehabilitating emptiness. The shapes of these blown glass containers are formed by the will of nature.

36

37

Pinha Decorative Vase Design by Paulo Sellmayer

These vases pay homage to pine trees, using their “fruit, the cones, as a decorative element on a lathed eucalyptus trunk. 38

39

Mocho Stool / Bench Design by Jo茫o Tim贸teo & Helena Fernandes

Reinterpreting the traditional Portuguese Stool, Mocho questions the use of pine wood as a component by being applied in its natural raw state. Two independent holders allow the elevation of the pine tree trunk.

Pico Suspension Lamp Design by João & Maria

Pico Lamp is an aesthetic play on the materials properties, in which the visual weight of the basalt brings to the lamp an elegant roughness that offsets the smooth simplicity of the brass pipe. This lamp is a result of an artistic residency at Pico do Refúgio - Casas de Campo, in São Miguel, in Azores
