President’s Letter
As I am writing this President's letter, I am overwhelmed with the unprecedented events that are taking place today. I am watching on TV the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who died 10 days ago at Balmoral, Scotland. It is the end of a second Elizabethan era and we now have a new King, Charles III, and we will see many changes taking places soon.

I also have to announce the sad news, that one of our members since 2019, Susan Hall, who was the sister of Sally Holloway, died on 29th July in a tragic car accident in the UK. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
We haven't had many events to report over the last couple of months, but the club has remained open throughout the summer for a few activities and always for our Thursday meetings. These are the times that we can keep you up to date on what is happening at the club. Watch the information put out on our Facebook page, the ICE website if you can, and also the club noticeboard.
Many events are scheduled to take place over the next 3 months in the lead up to Christmas. I can't believe I am thinking about that already. The regular weekly activities are restarting and we also have a busy social calendar ahead.
We have accepted a volunteer, Paul Parrick, for the position of Treasurer, to take over the reins from Ted Lunniss when he retires next March. Paul will shadow Ted from now and will attend committee meetings until he can be voted into the position at the next AGM. Let us wish Paul good luck and thank him for coming forward to do this very important role.
Julie Wood has recently stepped down as the organiser of the Ladies Lunches, which she has done for many years and we thank her for all her hard work in this role. Lynne Danby has agreed to take on the role. It is not a committee position, but the lunches are very well attended and hopefully will continue to be popular. Although we always refer to it as Ladies lunch, the gents usually go to a venue close by at the same time.
We are still very short of volunteers to help in all the usual positions - bar and cooking assistance, advertising and maintenance managers being just a few. If you can offer some help with any of these things, please let one of the committee know. Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the forthcoming events.
