PRESIDENT’S LETTER

My first President's letter in the new format! I am delighted that Betty has agreed to produce this newsletter for us every month. First the sad news that we have said our final goodbyes to Nigel Nevshehir, who passed away recently, and we send our condolences to his family and friends.

We have also learnt that a long-standing, former member Roger Richards, has passed away this week. His funeral will be at Estepona Crematorium at 12.00 on Tuesday 2nd May, followed by a wake at the ICE clubhouse.Our condolences also go to Roger's family and friends.

The Racing Afternoon held at the clubhouse in April was a great success. The winner of the Sweepstake was Anne Smith who won 75€.

In May we are going to Cádiz for the day. As this trip has sold-out very quickly, we recommend that, in order to avoid disappointment, you book early for the next trip which will be at the end of June to The Lakes.

Canasta has changed from Tuesday to Friday afternoons and Sue Potter is now the organiser.

We also have someone selling tickets and membership renewals every Sunday from 12.30pm to 2.00pm and you can pay by cash or card.

A great afternoon at the races, fantastic job from Ian who must have spent ages sorting everything out and printing all the race cards and betting slips. Thanks also to bookie Paul, Jacqui and Fran in the kitchen, and to tall John and Steph on the bar and last but certainly not least, to bookie runner, Sheila, who made sure all the betting slips were collected.

Birthday Celebration

Congratulations to Alan Frew who celebrated a 90th birthday recently.

A presentation was made to Alan at a Thursday club meeting morning.

Sundays At Ice

The bar is open from 12.30 to 2.30pm every Sunday.

Mahjong is played upstairs and in the bar we offer a small selection of TAPAS and our full bar service.

It is a sociable couple of hours and we now have someone available each week to sell tickets and renew (or new) membership. Come along and enjoy a drink with your friends.

Club Rules

Please may I remind everyone of the rules concerning guests and membership. Anyone can visit the Club 3 times, including as a guest at an event, before we expect you to join. This is in a lifetime and not every year. Once you have been a member, unless you have returned to UK and are only visiting for 1 or 2 weeks, you cannot then attend events as a guest, visit the Club or borrow DVDs or books unless you renew your membership. This does not mean you have to pay the new members admin fee, although you may be assigned a new membership number. This rule does not apply to family or friends who visit and stay with members for 1 or 2 weeks.

May I also point out that if 1 partner joins, the other partner cannot come as a guest (after 3 visits).
